Loading... Rebuilding the Matrix : Science and Faith in the 21st Century (original 2001; edition 2002)by Denis Alexander (Author)A really thorough account of the relationship between Christianity and science. Remarkably detailed on the 19th century response to Darwin, and also on the rise of modern creationism. He also deals helpfully with the idea that science was opposed to religion, noting that this came at a time when scientists were trying to establish themselves as experts in their own right, and getting exasperated at clerics, no matter how gifted, who seemed to behave a bit like amateurs. More thorough I suspect than his famous book 'Creation or Evolution, do we have to choose?' |
