We are very glad to announce that Lord Meston, the Lord Meston. distinguished Indian administrator, has consented to associate himself closely with the work of the Society and give the Committee and Officers the benefit of his help and counsel. The Annual The Annual Meeting was held in July, when the special subject raised was that of the aborigines of Australia, upon which Mrs. W. Ternent Cooke, of Adelaide, and Mr. Ernest Bryce, spoke. The Rev. C. E. C. Lefroy, a member of the Committee who had taken up the subject in Western Australia in previous years, urged the appointment of a Federal Commission of Enquiry into the whole subject, upon which there was much indifference and ignorance in Australia. The Rev. A. S. Cripps spoke on the Native Juveniles Employment Act in Southern Rhodesia. Obituary. During the year the Society lost two of its Vice-Presidents by the death of Sir Harry Johnston and Mr. St. Loe Strachey, both of whom had taken an active and practical interest in its work, and had rendered valuable service. M. René Claparède, the well-known Swiss writer and publicist, died early in March, after a long illness. He was a warm friend of Native Races, for whom he worked through the International Bureau at Geneva, and had long been a member of our Society. Other losses by death include Miss Algerina Peckover, Mrs. E. W. Lloyd, and Messrs. Isaac Milner, G. L. Barrow (Fiji), W. F. Masterman, Alister G. Fraser, J. E. Grubb, Rev. W. Draper, and Dr. J. Randle (Lagos). Several new members were elected to the Committee The Committee. during the year, including Lady Simon (wife of the Rt. Hon. Sir John Simon, M.P.), who has done yeoman service in speaking and writing in the interests of the Society, the Rev. William Paton, who has succeeded Mr. J. H. Oldham as Secretary of the International Missionary Council, Mr. C. G. Ammon, M.P., Mr. Walter Baker, M.P., and Mrs. Sydney Morse. There have been some other changes in the Committee. Mr. Henry Gurney, who resigned for reasons of health after forty years' service, was elected a Vice-President. Miss Barbara Bliss has been elected to the Committee in place of her father. The Rev.
