temple: and my complaint shall come before him, it shall enter even into his ears.

30. The way of the Lord is an undefiled way: the word of the Lord also is tried in the fire; he is the defender of all them that put their trust in him.

31. For who is God, but the Lord: or who hath any strength, except our God?

32. It is God, that girdeth me with strength of war and maketh my way perfect.

47. The Lord liveth: and blessed be my strong helper: and praised be the God of my salvation.

1. Except the Lord build the house: their labour is but lost that build it.

2. Except the Lord keep the city: the watchman waketh but in vain.

3. It is but lost labour that ye haste to rise up early, and so late take rest, and eat the bread of carefulness: for so he giveth his beloved sleep.

4. Lo, children and the fruit of the womb: are an heritage and gift that cometh of the Lord. 5. Like as the arrows in the hand of the giant : even so are the young children.

Happy is the man that hath his quiver full of them they shall not be ashamed when they speak with their enemies in the gate.

LESSON.

Holy Bible.

1 Tim. ii. 8-15.

I will therefore that men pray everywhere, lifting up holy hands, without wrath and doubting. In like manner also, that women adorn themselves in modest apparel, with shamefacedness and sobriety; not with broidered hair, or gold, or pearls, or costly array; but (which becometh women professing godliness) with good works. Let the woman learn in silence with all subjection. But I suffer not a woman to teách, nor to usurp authority over the man, but to be in silence. For Adam was first formed, then Eve. And Adam was not deceived, but the woman being deceived was in the transgression. Notwithstanding she shall be saved in childbearing, if they continue in faith and charity and holiness with sobriety.

PRAYERS.

General Thanksgiving.

Almighty God, Father of all mercies, we thine unworthy servants do give thee most humble and hearty thanks for all thy goodness and lovingkindness to us, and to all men; [particularly to those who desire now to offer up their praises and thanksgivings for thy late mercies vouchsafed unto them.] We bless thee for our creation, preservation, and all the blessings of this life; but above all, for thine inestimable love in the redemption of the world by our Lord Jesus Christ; for the means of grace, and for the hope of glory. And, we beseech thee, give us that due sense of all thy mercies, that our hearts may be unfeignedly thankful, and that we shew forth thy praise, not only with our lips, but in our lives; by giving up ourselves to thy service, and by walking before thee in holiness and righteousness all our days; through Jesus Christ our Lord, to whom with thee and the Holy Ghost be all honour and glory, world without end. Amen.

(Collects.)

5th Sunday in Lent.

they may be governed and preserved evermore, both in body and soul; through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

2nd Sunday after Trinity.

O Lord, who never failest to help and govern them whom thou dost bring up in thy stedfast fear and love; Keep us, we beseech thee, under the protection of thy good providence, and make us to have a perpetual fear and love of thy holy Name; through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.
