BEREAVEMENT.

PSALMS.

xxvii. 1, 8-16. (Loss of Parents.)

1. The Lord is my light, and my salvation; whom then shall I fear: the Lord is the strength of my life; of whom then shall I be afraid ?

8. Hearken unto my voice, O Lord, when I cry unto thee: have mercy upon me, and hear

me.

9. My heart hath talked of thee, Seek ye my face Thy face, Lord, will I seek.

10. O hide not thou thy face from me: nor cast thy servant away in displeasure.

11. Thou hast been my succour : leave me not, neither forsake me, O God of my salvation.

12. When my father and my mother forsake me: the Lord taketh me up.

:

13. Teach me thy way, O Lord and lead me in the right way, because of mine enemies.

14. Deliver me not over into the will of mine adversaries: for there are false witnesses risen up against me: and such as speak wrong.

15. I should utterly have fainted: but that I believe verily to see the goodness of the Lord in the land of the living.

16. O tarry thou the Lord's leisure: be strong, and he shall comfort thine heart; and put thou thy trust in the Lord.

cxlvi. (L088 of Husband.)

1. Praise the Lord, O my soul; while I live will I praise the Lord: yea, as long as I have any being, I will sing praises unto my God.

2. O put not your trust in princes, nor in any child of man for there is no help in them.

3. For when the breath of man goeth forth he shall turn again to his earth: and then all his thoughts perish.

4. Blessed is he that hath the God of Jacob for his help and whose hope is in the Lord his God;

5. Who made heaven and earth, the sea, and all that therein is: who keepeth his promise for

ever;

6. Who helpeth them to right that suffer wrong: who feedeth the hungry.

7. The Lord looseth men out of prison: the Lord giveth sight to the blind.

8. The Lord helpeth them that are fallen: the Lord careth for the righteous.

9. The Lord careth for the strangers; he defendeth the fatherless and widow: as for the way of the ungodly he turneth it upside down.

10. The Lord thy God, O Sion, shall be King for evermore; and throughout all generations. Or, Psalm xc.

LESSONS.

Epistle, 3rd Sunday after Trinity.

1 St. Peter v. 5.

All of you be subject one to another, and be clothed with humility: for God resisteth the proud, and giveth grace to the humble. Humble yourselves therefore under the mighty hand of God, that he may exalt you in due time; casting

all your care upon him, for he careth for you. Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary, the devil, as a roaring lion, walketh about seeking whom he may devour: whom resist stedfast in the faith, knowing that the same afflictions are accomplished in your brethren that are in the world. But the God of all grace, who hath called us into his eternal glory by Christ Jesus, after that ye have suffered awhile, make you perfect, stablish, strengthen, settle you. Το him be glory and dominion, for ever and ever. Amen.

Or, Rev. xiv. 1, Epis. Innocent's Day. (Loss of
Infants.)

Rom. viii. 18, Epis. 4th Sunday after Trinity.
Rev. vii. 9-12, Epis. All Saints' Day.

1 Cor. xv. 20, Lesson from Burial Service.

Sentences from Burial Service.

St. John xi. 25, 25.

I am the resurrection and the life, saith the Lord: he that believeth in me, though he were dead, yet shall he live: and whosoever liveth and believeth in me shall never die.

Job xix. 25, 26, 27.

I know that my Redeemer liveth, and that he shall stand at the latter day upon the earth. And though after my skin worms destroy this body, yet in my flesh shall I see God: whom I shall see for myself, and mine eyes shall behold, and not another.

1 Tim. vi. 7; Job. 1, 21.

We brought nothing into this world, and it is certain we can carry nothing out. The Lord gave, and the Lord hath taken away; blessed be the Name of the Lord.

PRAYERS.

From the Burial Service.

O Merciful God, the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who is the resurrection and the life; in whom whosoever believeth shall live, though he die; and whosoever liveth, and believeth in him, shall not die eternally; who also hath taught us, by his holy Apostle Saint Paul, not to be sorry, as men without hope, for them that sleep in him;
