Ely, of Bury, delivered the introductory difcourfe, and propofed the ufual questions. Mr. J Grimhaw, of Forton, offered up the ordination prayer, without impofition of hands. Mr. J. Cockin, of Halifax, reminded the minifter of his duty, froin 1 Tim. iv. 16., and Mr. P. S. Charrier, of Lancaster, exhorted his flock to encourage him, from Deut. i. 38. and concluded the fervices with prayer, Mr. Cockin preached an evening lecture from Pfalm Jxxiii. 24. AUG. 5. The Rev. D. EDWARDS was ordained pastor in the Independent church at Elfwick, Lancashire. Mr. T. Whitely, of Tockholes, began the fervices of the day with prayer, and reading fuitable Scriptures. Mr. P. S. Charrier, of Lancaster, vindicated a confcientious feparation from the establishment, and propofed the ufual queftions. Mr. L. Redmayne, of Norwich, implored the divine bleffing on the young minifter, accompanied with the impofition of hands. His worthy tutor, Lewis, of Wrexham, N. Wales, gave him an affectionate charge, from John xxi. 16. Mr. T. M'Quhe, of Blackburn, reminded the congregation of their duty, from Rom xii. 4, 5.; and Mr. J. MILLER was ordained, as Paftor over the Baptift church at Weftinancate, near Overbury, Worcestershire. Mr. Amphlet, of Evesham, introduced the work by prayer and reading. Mr. Row, land, of Perfhore, gave an account of the nature, rights, and officers of an Evangelical church; he alfo put the ufual queftions, &c. Mr. Edmunds, of Upton, offered the ordination prayer, accompanied with the impofition of hands. Mc. Miller's late paftor, Mr. Ofborn, of Worcester, delivered the charge, from that pertinent and pithy word in 2 Timothy ii. 15. "Study !" Mr. Belfher, of Worcester, preached to the congregation; and Mr. Bedford, of Birlingham, cloted with prayer. GARDNER (formerly a student in Mr. Bull's academy) has lately accepted the paftoral charge of an Independent church at Godalmin, formed by his affiftance out of three fmall focieties there, of divers denominations, who have unitedly defired to attend upon his miniftry.
