PREFACE. THE rapid sale of the whole of the former volumes of this edition of the Legislative Acts of the Governor-General of India in Council, and the frequent demands that have been made for a supplemental volume, which should bring the collection down to the latest possible date, will form a sufficient excuse for my present re-appearance before the public. I can lay claim to no greater merits than those of labor and accuracy. But, while I can vouch that labor has been bestowed on the present volume, I may, I hope, flatter myself (if the absence of complaint may be taken as a test) that accuracy has been admitted to have been attained in those which preceded it, and that it may therefore reasonably be expected to characterise their successor. |
