that feareth the Lord. Ver. 5. The Lord shall bless thee out of Sion; and thou shalt see the good of Jerusalem all the days of thy life. Ver. 6. Yea, thou shalt see thy children's children, and peace upon Israel.

Prov. iii. 33. He blessed the habitation of the just.

Prov. xii. 7. The house of the righteous shall stand.

Prov. xiv. 11. The tabernacle of the upright shall flourish.

CHAPTER II

PROMISES RELATING TO TROUBLES IN LIFE.

I. In general.

Of preservation from trouble.-JOB, v. 19. He shall deliver thee in six troubles; yea, in seven there shall no evil touch thee.

Ps. xxxi. 13. The Lord preserveth the faithful.

Ps. xxxii. 6. For this shall every one that is godly pray unto thee, in a time when thou mayest be found: surely in the floods of great waters, they shall not come nigh unto

him. Ver. 7. Thou art my hiding place, thou shalt preserve me from trouble: thou shalt compass me about with songs of deliverance.

Ps. xci. 10. There shall no evil befall thee, neither shall any plague come nigh thy dwelling.

Prov. xii. 21. There shall no evil happen to the just.

Prov. xvi. 19. The way of the slothful man is an hedge of thorns; but the way of the righteous is made plain.

Deliverance out of trouble.-Job, viii. 20. Behold, God will not cast away a perfect man, neither will he help the evil doers. Ver. 21. Till he fill thy mouth with laughing, and thy lips with rejoicing.

Job, xi. 16. Thou shalt forget thy misery, and remember it as waters that pass away.

Job, xxxvi. 16. Even so would he have removed thee out of the straight into a broad place, where there is no straightness; and that which should be set on thy table, should be full of fatness.

Ps. xxx. 5. His anger endureth but a moment: in his favour is life: weeping may endure for a night, but joy cometh in the morning.

Ps. xxxiv. 19. Many are the afflictions of the righteous, but the Lord delivereth him out of them all

Ps. xlii. 11. Why art thou cast down, O

my soul? and why art thou disquieted within me? Hope thou in God, for I shall yet praise him, who is the health of my countenance, and my God.

Ps. Ixviii. 13. Though ye have lain among the pots, yet shall ye be as the wings of a dove covered with silver, and her feathers with yellow gold.

Ps. lxxi. 20. Thou which hath showed me great and sore troubles, shalt quicken me again, and shalt bring me up again from the depths of the earth.

Ps. xviii. 27. Thou wilt save the afflicted people, but wilt bring down high looks. Ver. 28. For thou wilt light my candle; the Lord my God, will enlighten my dark

ness.

Ps. cxlvi. 8. The Lord openeth the eyes of the blind, the Lord raiseth them that are bowed down.

Ps. cvii. 19. They cry unto the Lord in their trouble; he delivereth them out of their distresses.

Ps. cxxvi. 5. They that sow in tears shall reap in joy. Ver. 6. He that goeth forth and weepeth, bearing precious seed, shall doubtless come again with rejoicing, bringing his sheaves with him.

Prov. xxi. 8. The righteous is delivered out of trouble, and the wicked cometh in his stead.

Prov. xii. 13. The wicked is snared by the

transgression of his lips; but the just shall come out of trouble.

Prov. xxvi. 16. A just man falleth seven times, and riseth up again.

Jer. xxix. 11. I know the thoughts that I think towards you, saith the Lord; thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you an expected end.

Jer. xxxi. 12. Their soul shall be as a watered garden, and they shall not sorrow any more. Ver. 13. I will turn their mourning into joy, and will comfort them, and make them rejoice from their sorrow.

Hos. vi. 1. Come, and let us return unto the Lord, for he hath torn, and he wil heal us; he hath smitten, and he will bind us up.

Support under troubles.-Ps. ix. 9. The Lord will be a refuge for the oppressed, a refuge in times of trouble.

Ps. xxii. 24. He hath not despised nor abhorred the affliction of the afflicted; neither hath he hid his face from him; but when he cried unto him he heard.

Ps. xxvii. 14. Wait on the Lord; be of good courage, and he shall strengthen thine heart: wait, I say, on the Lord. Ver. 12. When my father and my mother forsake me, then the Lord will take me up.

Ps. xxxvii. 24. Though he fall, he shall not be utterly cast down: for the Lord upholdeth him with his hand. Ver. 39. The

salvation of the righteous is with the Lord: he is their strength in the time of trouble.

Ps. xviii. 2. The Lord is my rock, and my fortress, and my deliverer: my God, my strength, in whom I will trust; my buckler, and the horn of my salvation, and my high

tower.

Ps. xlvi. 1. God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble. Ver. 2. Therefore, we will not fear, though the earth be removed, and though the mountains be carried into the midst of the sea. Ver. 3. Though the waters thereof roar, and be troubled; though the mountains shake with the swelling thereof. Selah.

Ps. lv. 22. Cast thy burden upon the Lord, and he shall sustain thee: he shall never suffer the righteous to be moved.

Ps. xxxi. 7. I will be glad and rejoice in thy mercy for thou hast considered my trouble: thou hast known my soul in adversities.

Exod. iii. 7. I have surely seen the afflic tion of my people which are in Egypt, and have heard their cry by reason of their taskmasters: for I know their sorrows.

Ps. xli. 1. Blessed is he that considereth the poor; the Lord will deliver him in time of trouble.

Ps. lxxi. 3. Thou hast given commandment to save me, for thou art my rock and mv fortress.
