Sinners Have Souls Too

How did I come about the title Sinners Have Souls Too? I began the journal of events in my life some twenty-six years ago, but I didn?t have a title. Years later when I saw The Color Purple, a movie based on the book by Alice Walker, it resonated with me. The characters who lived in the South in the twentieth century, and how their lives intertwined, only proved that goodness and righteousness won out in the end, in spite of the trials and tribulations that had befallen them.Miss Avery, one of the characters, stood out in particular. Like the prodigal son, she left her secure home to give way to the lust of the flesh, only to come to herself and return to her waiting forgiving preacher father?s arms, whispering softly in his ears what I heard her say: ?A sinner has a soul too.? Like so many, myself included, she chose the fast lane, trying to satisfy the lust of the flesh while looking for love in all the wrong places.
