ture.

Enter into his gates with thanksgiving, and into his courts with praise; be thankful unto him, and speak good of his name.

For the Lord is gracious, his mercy is everlasting, and his truth endureth from generation to generation.

ty, before whom all creatures bow, the fountain of life and the father of all mercies, we thine unworthy servants come before thee in humble acknowledgment of thine eternal power and majesty. Thou art the living and true God; thy kingdom ruleth over all, and thy goodness

is without bounds. Assist us to worship thee in spirit and in truth; may we celebrate thy perfections and speak of thy wonderful works with reverence; give thanks unto thee, and sing thy praises with joy; humble ourselves before thee with sincere and contrite hearts; and pray unto thee in the faith that thou hearest and answerest prayer. Graciously accept these our devotions, which we offer in the name and as disciples of Jesus Christ our Lord.

People.

May the words of our mouths, and the meditations of our hearts, be acceptable in thy sight, O Lord, our strength and our redeemer.

Then shall be recited the following Anthem, or instead of it the Psalms appointed for the day.

Minister.

Peo. O Lord God, thou art greatly to be praised; and to be had in reverence by all who draw nigh unto thee.

Min. We acknowledge thee, the one, living, and true God, God in heaven above, and in earth beneath, and throughout all worlds; there is none beside thee.

Peo. Unto us there is but one God; to whom be glory for ever.

Min. Thou alone art from everlasting, without beginning of days, or end of years; thou livest and reignest for ever and ever.

Peo. We magnify thee, the high and lofty One, who inhabitest eternity.

Min. Thou art a spiritual and incorruptible being; who dwellest in light inaccessible, and full of glory; whom no mortal eye hath seen, or can see.

Peo. We would worship thee, who art a spirit, in spirit and in truth.

Min. Thou art perfect in wisdom, wonderful in

all thy works.

Peo. To the only wise God, be honour and glory for ever.

Min. Holy art thou, O

God; thou art of purer eyes than to behold iniquity; thy countenance regardeth the upright.

Peo. We reverence thy name; for thou art holy. Min. Thy righteousness is like the great mountains; thy truth reacheth to the heavens; justice and judgment are the everlasting foundations of thy throne.

Peo. Just and true are all thy ways, O thou King of saints.

Min. Thou art good, and thou doest good continually; all thy works bear testimony to thy rich and overflowing bounty; every good and every perfect gift is from above, and cometh down from thee, the Father of all.

Peo. O Lord, thy goodness is above all praise; universal as thy works, and endless as eternity.

Min. All glory and honour, blessing and praise be unto God for ever. Amen.

Then may follow a Voluntary on the Organ; after which the FIRST LESSON is to be read out of the Old Testament; and then the Service is to proceed with

the following Thanksgiving.

Minister.

Let us now offer up unto God our sincere and humble thanksgivings, for his great goodness to us, and to all mankind.

People.

Bless the Lord, O our souls, and forget not all his benefits.

Minister.

We

We thank thee, O Father, Lord of heaven and earth, for the innumerable mercies which thou hast bestowed upon us. thank thee for the wise and useful frame of our bodies; and for the nobler powers of our minds; by which we are enabled to contemplate the beauty of thy works, and the wonderful order of thy providence; and to attain the knowledge and love of thee, the creator of the world, and the author of all good.

We thank thee, O ever bountiful and most gracious God, for the contin

ual preservation of our lives; our food and raiment are the daily gifts of thy bounty; thou givest us health and fruitful seasons, and fillest our hearts with joy and gladness.

People.

Blessed be the Lord for his goodness and for his wonderful works to the children of men.

Minister.

Above all we praise and magnify thee, for thy goodness in the manifestation of thy Son Jesus Christ, whom thou hast raised up to bless mankind, to turn them from darkness to light, and from the power of sin, to the worship and obedience of thee, the true God.

We thank thee for the promises of thy mercy and forgiveness, upon repentance and newness of life; for the aid of thy gracious influence to help our infirmities; and for the blessed hope of eternal life, confirmed to us in the gospel.

People.

Blessed be the God and

Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, for his goodness, and for his wonderful works to the children of men.

Here the SECOND LESSON is to be read, out of the New Testament; and then the Service may proceed as follows.

IF

Minister.

F we say that we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us.

If we confess and forsake our sins, God is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.

Let us therefore, with humble and contrite hearts confess our sins at the throne of the heavenly grace.

The GENERAL CONFESSION; to be read by the Minister alone.

ALMIGHTY God, Fa

ther of our Lord Jesus Christ, maker of all things, and judge of all men; we

acknowledge and lament before thee the manifold errors and follies of our lives. Our only hope is in thy mercy, which endureth for ever. We bow ourselves before the throne of thy grace, imploring thy pardon. O God, have mercy upon the works of thy hands; forgive and accept thy people, according to thy promises in Jesus Christ our Lord. Enable us, O God, by the assistance of thy holy Spirit, to forsake every evil way, to correct whatever is wrong in our tempers and conduct, and to delight in the practice of every thing good and virtuous; that we may obtain from thee, the God of all mercy, the forgiveness of our sins, and an inheritance among those who are sanctified, through the redemption which is in Jesus Christ.

People.

Create in us, O God, a clean heart, and renew a right spirit within us.

Then shall be read the COLLECT FOR THE DAY,

and one or more of the following Prayers.

FOR RESIGNATION.

LORD God, whose never failing providence ordereth all things both in heaven and in earth, we submit ourselves to the disposal of that wisdom which cannot err, and to the care of that goodness which is unchangeable and everlasting. Lead us whither thou pleasest ; place us in what circumstances thou shalt judge proper; we would do thy whole will with fidelity and pleasure; we would bear thy whole will with submission and patience. Defend us, O gracious Father, from every real evil; confer upon us every needful good; may all events conspire to the improvement and establishment of our virtue; and may we be conducted by thine unerring hand, through all the changes of this mortal life, and finally be admitted to the everlasting habitations of the just, which thou hast promised to thy faithful servants by Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

FOR ALL MANKIND.
