THE TWELFTH ARTICLE.

301. What is the Twelfth Article of the Creed?

The life everlasting.

302. What does that mean?

The saints shall have everlasting life with God.

303. Shall the good and bad equally rise to everlasting life?

No: they that have done good, unto the resurrection of life, and they that have done evil, unto the resurrection of damnation. John v. 29.

304. What are the sorrows we shall be free from in heaven?

We shall have no tears, as on earth, no death, or sorrow, or crying. Rev. xxi. 4.

305. How is the happiness of heaven described?

As greater than eye hath seen, or heart can comprehend.

306. What does the happiness of our everlasting life consist in?

In the vision, and sight, and eternal presence of God. "We shall see Him as He is."

THE COMMANDMENTS.

1. WHAT was the third thing which you promised to do by your godfathers and godmothers?

That I would keep God's holy will and commandments.

4. Can you keep the commandments of God?

I can, with God's help. "I can do all things through Christ strengthening me." Phil. iv. 13.

5. How do you know that these commandments are binding upon you under the Gospel?

Christ, the Author of the Gospel, has said, "If thou wilt enter into life, keep the commandments." Matt. xix. 17.

THE FIRST COMMANDMENT.

I should behave as though God was looking at me, for He is very near me. 21. Is God near you when you are in church?

God is indeed very near me then, the church is God's house, where God comes into the midst of us.

22. What does Solomon say upon this subject?

He says, "Keep thy foot when thou goest to the house of God;" that is, go with respect and awe. Eccles. v. 1.

23. Should you not show respect to God, by outward reverence, as well as by reverence of the heart?

Yes; I must bend my knees to Him, after Christ's example :-" He kneeled down, and prayed." Luke xxii. 41.

24. How further can you show your reverence by outward gesture?

By bowing my head before Him, as holy men always have done. "They bowed their heads and worshipped." 2 Chron. xxix. 30.

25. Tell me in what places you must worship God?

Chiefly, I must go to church to worship God.

Peter and John went up together to the temple at the hour of prayer. Acts
