(though unworthy of such blessedness) to be devoted for ever!

I thank Thee for the manifold mercies of another day! I beseech Thee still for Thy Blessing on myself and all my relations and friends [especially, &c. . . . . ] And I resign myself once more to Thee my God, and humbly hope in Thee as my portion for ever, through JESUS CHRIST. Amen.

Our FATHER, Which art in heaven, Hallowed be Thy Name. Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done in earth, As it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our trespasses, As we forgive them that trespass against us. And lead us not into temptation; but deliver us from evil: For Thine is the kingdom, The power, and the glory, For ever and ever. Amen.

(To be said standing.)

I believe in God the FATHER Almighty, Maker of heaven and earth:

And in JESUS CHRIST His only SON our LORD, Who was conceived by the HOLY GHOST, Born of the Virgin Mary, Suffered under Pontius Pilate, Was crucified, dead, and buried, He descended into hell; The third day He rose again from the dead, He ascended into heaven, And sitteth on the right hand of GOD the FATHER Almighty; from thence He shall come to judge the quick and the dead.

I believe in the HOLY GHOST; The holy Catholic Church; The Communion of Saints; The Forgiveness of sins; The Resurrection of the body, and the life everlasting. Amen.

BENEDICTION.-The LORD bless me and keep me this night. Amen.

TUESDAY MORNING.

TEXT. "Not slothful in business,

fervent in spirit, serving the LORD.”— Romans xii. 11.

COLLECTS. (To be said kneeling.)

Blessed be GOD, Who hast raised me up once more to behold the light of Day!— The darkness was no darkness to Thee, O LORD, but the night as clear as the day. Help me, then, to be ever mindful that all things are naked and open to Thine eyes, and may the remembrance thereof sanctify both my nights and days to Thee: until my last night shall close on me! and O my God, may I then have a good hope that Thou wilt raise me up to everlasting light and life in Thy blessed Presence; through CHRIST my SAVIOUR! Amen.

TUESDAY MORNING.

19

Vouchsafe, O LORD, Thy guidance and protection to Thy servant this day, and Thy mercy to all. [Especially, &c. . . . .] Though my days have been thus far, alas, unprofitable, yet henceforth my whole desire is to do those things that are pleasing in Thy sight: O help Thy servant, for JESUS' sake. Amen.

Our FATHER, Which art in heaven, Hallowed be Thy Name. Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done in earth, As it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive them that trespass against us. And lead us not into temptation; But deliver us from evil : For Thine is the kingdom, The power, and the glory, For Amen.

ever and ever.

The grace of our LORD JESUS CHRIST, and the love of GoD, and the fellowship of the HOLY GHOST, be with us. Amen.

A CHRISTIAN SERVANT'S TRIALS.

1. Of Honesty.

A Christian Servant must do no injury;-should waste nothing;-and make no secret gains.

2. Of Temper.

A Christian Servant should be kind, obliging, and forgiving: and envy

none.

3. Of Truthfulness.

A Christian Servant must never lie to screen any one: must be no whisperer: no listener.

4. Of Faithfulness to Religion.

A Christian Servant must not be ashamed of Prayer, or Church, or any part of Religion.

5. Of Humility.

A Christian Servant must be retiring, simple, modest, and respectful to all; and filled with "charity which beareth all things;" submitting even to hardships, for CHRIST's sake.
