The decrease in the agricultural enrollment in the first and seconds years of the high-school course and the increase in the agricultural enrollment in the third and fourth years in these negro land-grant institutions are due to the transition in and raising of standards of many of these institutions from their original status as a high school to that of a junior college and finally, in many instances, to a later transition to the rank of a standard agricultural college.
