In the above table the rent to Pittsburg, Fort Wayne and Chicago Railroad Company, for use of road between Rochester and Pittsburg, is included in penses," and also payments to the Company on account of division of surplus earnings. Payments by the Pittsburg, Fort Wayne and Chicago Company on same account are included in “gross earnings." In 1863-64, the "expenses" are increased on this account by $102,689, and in the years following the "gross earnings" are increased by $148,113, $256,066, $158,171, $210,308 and $196,460 respectively.
