This line continues the Peninsula of Michigan through the State of Indiana, and at that point connects with the Chicago, Blue Island and Indiana Railroad, extending thence to Chicago. These three roads will be consolidated, forming a line of 205 miles between Chicago and Lansing, and thence to Port Huron is 112.5 miles. The whole length is expected to be in operation before the end of the current year. Seven per cent. gold bonds, to the extent of $16,000 per mile, will be issued.

Rental for two years from January 1, 1866, $1,400 per mile of road, and for three years from January 1, 1868, $1,750 per mile. From January 1, 1871, the rental is to be $700 per mile out of the $1,500 per mile of nett earnings, and one-third of the gross earnings in excess of the last-named sum of $1,500 and up to $4,500 per mile. Such an amount earned per mile would give an annual rental of $1,700. When the gross earnings shall exceed $4,500 per mile, the lessors are to receive, in addition to the sums previously provided, 20 per cent. of such excess.

Gross earnings for year ending May 31, 1869, $2,489,536 78. Rental at $1,750 per mile, $475,300. The receipts for the four years ending May 31, 1869, were $152,690 23, $265,819 41, $419,848 34 and $475,300 respectively.

Cost of road, about $15,000,000. Capital stock, about $8,000,000; funded debt, 1st mortgage 7 p. c. bonds, February and August, or May and October, $7,620,000. No accurate statistics are attainable. The land grant of this Company is about 1,200,000 acres, donated under acts of May 15, 1856, and June 2, 1864.
