The Company have a land grant from the United States of 6 sections per mile of road, for all that part lying within the State of Alabama, in all amounting to about 1,900,800 acres and valued by the Company at $3,801,600.

Funded debt—1st mortgage 8 per cent. bonds guaranteed by State of Alabama to the amount of $16,000 per mile of completed road and payable principal and interest in gold coin, principal in twenty years from January 1, 1869, and interest semiannually January 1st and July 1st, $4,800,000, of which $2,800,000 have been issued, and 2d mortgage 8 per cent. bonds to the amount of $9,000 per mile of completed road and payable principal and interest in U.
