HE law of the Lord is perfect, converting the soul:

The testimony of the Lord is sure, making wise the

simple.

The statutes of the Lord are right, rejoicing the heart: the commandment of the Lord is pure, enlightening the eyes.

The fear of the Lord is clean, enduring for ever: the judgments of the Lord are true and righteous altogether. More to be desired are they than gold, yea, than much fine gold: sweeter also than honey and the honeycomb. Moreover by them is thy servant warned: and in keep ing of them there is great reward.

Who can understand his errors? cleanse thou me froin secret faults.

Keep back thy servant also from presumptuous sins; let them not have dominion over me: then shall I be upright, and I shall be innocent from great transgression.

Let the words of my mouth, and the meditation of my heart, be acceptable in thy sight, O Lord, my strength, and my redeemer.

TEACH me, my God and King,

In all things thee to see;
And what I do in any thing,
To do it as for thee!

To scorn the senses' sway,

While still to thee I tend;
In all I do be thou the way;
In all be thou the end.

All may of thee partake;
Nothing so small can be,

But draws, when acted for thy sake,
Greatness and worth from thee.

THOU who art invisible to mortal eye, but dost reveal thyself to the sanctified and holy heart, so cleanse us by thy grace, we beseech thee, so cleanse us in the tears of repentance and by the power of thy Holy Spirit, that we may see thee, and walk in the light of thy countenance all the days of our life; to the glory of thy grace. Amen.

BUT

OUT when the Comforter is come, whom I will send unto you from the Father, even the Spirit of truth, which proceedeth from the Father, he shall testify of me: And ye also shall bear witness, because ye have been with me from the beginning.

Nevertheless I tell you the truth; It is expedient for you that I go away: for if I go not away, the Comforter will not come unto you; but if I depart, I will send him unto you.

And when he is come, he will reprove the world of sin, and of righteousness, and of judgment.

O

NEW every morning is the love

Our wakening and uprising prove:

Through sleep and darkness safely brought,
Restored to life, and power, and thought.

New mercies, each returning day,
Hover around us while we pray :
New perils past, new sins forgiven,

New thoughts of God, new hopes of heaven.

THOU that makest both darkness and light, thine is also the light invisible, the revelation of thy Spirit to our souls. Enable us to worship and serve thee in spirit and in truth, in word and deed, in private and in public; to have no pleasure in wrong; to go not after evil thoughts; to speak the truth in love; to hold all things in subjection to thy will; to be content with what is rightly our own. We commend to thee, O Lord, our souls and bodies, our minds and thoughts, with all their prayers and intentions; our senses and limbs, our words and works, our life and death; our friends and benefactors, and all who have a claim on us by duty, kindred, or neighborhood; our country, and all mankind. We commend to thee, O Lord, our going out and coming in, our down-sitting and uprising. Thou, Lord, art the preserver of all living things; and the children of men put their trust under the shadow of thy wings. The Lord bless us and keep us, and show the light of his countenance upon us, and be merciful to us, evermore. Amen.

TH

HERE is therefore now no condemnation to them which are in Christ Jesus, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit.

For the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus hath made me free from the law of sin and death.

For they that are after the flesh do mind the things of the flesh; but they that are after the Spirit, the things of the Spirit.

For to be carnally minded is death; but to be spiritually minded is life and peace.

But ye are not in the flesh, but in the Spirit, if so be that the Spirit of God dwell in you. Now if any man have not the Spirit of Christ, he is none of his.

My spirit longs for Thee

To dwell within my breast;
Though I unworthy be

Of so divine a guest !

Of so divine a guest
Unworthy though I be,
Yet has my heart no rest
Unless it come to thee:

Unless it come to thee

In vain I look around;

In all that I can see

No rest is to be found.

No rest is to be found

But in thy blessed love:
Oh let my wish be crown'd,
And send it from above!

LORD, our heavenly Father, who hast safely brought us to this day, defend, guide, and sustain us in the same with thy great power; and grant that this day we may not fall into any sin, neither run into any danger, but that all our doings, being ordered by thy governance, may be righteous in thy sight, through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

ASK, and it shall be given you; seek, and ye shall

find; knock, and it shall be opened unto you:

For every one that asketh receiveth; and he that seeketh findeth; and to him that knocketh it shall be opened. What man is there of you, whom if his son ask bread, will he give him a stone?

Or if he ask a fish, will he give him a serpent?

If ye then, being evil, know how to give good gifts unto your children, how much more shall your Father which is in heaven give good things to them that ask him?

PRAYER is to God the soul's sure way;

So flows the grace he waits to give :
Long as they live should Christians pray;
They learn to pray when first they live.

Depend on him; thou shalt prevail;
Make all thy wants and wishes known:
Fear not, his mercy will not fail;
Ask but in faith, it shall be done.

LORD our God, who hast brought us to the begin

O ning of another day, and vouchsafed to us this

season of holy rest, look down, we pray thee, on us, thy worshipping children, now before thee. May we have in remembrance thy works of righteousness and of love, and in our humble measure feel what that divine goodness must be, which continues to take care of us from week to week and from year to year, and which was the same in the time of our fathers and the old time before them! But most of all, O heavenly Father, we thank thee for thy boundless grace and mercy in Jesus Christ. In his spirit may we come to thee at this time with our glad homage and filial obedience! O thou, unto whom all hearts are open, all desires known, and from whom no secrets are hid, cleanse, we beseech thee, the thoughts of our hearts by the inspirations of thy Holy Spirit, that we may perfectly love thee, and worthily magnify thy hallowed name. Amen.

Ο

H how great is thy goodness, which thou hast laid up for them that fear thee; which thou hast wrought for them that trust in thee before the sons of men!

Thou shalt hide them in the secret of thy presence: thou shalt keep them secretly in a pavilion.

Blessed be the Lord: for he hath showed me his marvellous kindness.

For I said in my haste, I am cut off from before thine eyes nevertheless thou heardest the voice of my supplications when I cried unto thee.

O love the Lord, all ye his saints: for the Lord preserveth the faithful.

all

Be of good courage, and he shall strengthen your heart, ye that hope in the Lord.

MOST

My God, I love thee: not because

I hope for heaven thereby ;

Nor because they who love thee not
Must burn eternally.

Not with the hope of gaining aught;
Not seeking a reward;

But, as thyself hast loved me,

O ever-loving Lord :

E'en so I love thee, and will love,
And in thy praise will sing;

Solely because thou art my God,
And my eternal King.

OST gracious and merciful Father, we resign ourselves and all our interests to thy disposal, in the humble hope that thy mercy will never forsake us, and that thou wilt cause all things to work together for our good. We would submit patiently to thy will under every afflic tion; and we humbly pray that we may so pass through the changes of this world, as finally to be prepared for the perfect and eternal joys of the world to come. Amen.
