26 Vic. c. 15. Vestry Clerk, and who shall receive out of the Public Treasury the following salaries, viz. :-Clerk to St. Matthew's Vestry, £20 per annum; Clerk to St. John's Vestry, £15 per annum; Clerk to Vestry Clerks. St. Anne's Vestry, £10 per annum; which said salaries shall, in all respects, be subject to the augmentation provided for by the fourth section of this Act, and shall be paid in monthly payments, by warrant in the usual manner.

VII. That no person who shall temporarily fill any office shall be entitled to receive any or any part of any augmented salary to which the holder of such office shall be entitled under the provisions of this Act; but the same shall, in the case of the absence of such officer from the duties of his office under leave of absence for any period not exceeding nine months, be payable to him in the same and the like manner as if he was in the actual performance of the duties of his office.

VIII. That the salaries by this Act made payable to the different Out-island Magistrates shall be in full of salary and travelling expenses; and so much of any Act of Assembly as grants any allowance for travelling expenses to either of such Magistrates shall be and the same is hereby repealed.

IX. That the office of Clerk of the Council, as referred to in schedule B to this Act annexed, shall be held as a separate and distinct office from that of Colonial Secretary, and such Clerk shall attend on both the Executive and Legislative Council; and it shall be his duty to keep the minutes of the said Boards of Council respectively, and to discharge such other duties connected with the said Boards as such Boards shall from time to time respectively direct to be performed, as also the duties of Master in Chancery as herein before attached to the said office.

26 Vic. c. 19. An Act to provide a more equitable Scale of Remuneration for the Superior Ecclesiastical Officers of

the Colony.

Schedule.

I. That from and after the first day of July, 1863, the several Grants certain amounts set and placed opposite the respective offices named in fixed salaries the schedule to this Act annexed, shall be payable out of the set forth in the Public Treasury of these Islands, in monthly payments, by warrant in the usual manner, to the respective holders of such offices, and so much of any other Act of Assembly of these Islands as provides for the payment of salaries to the holders of such offices shall be and the same is hereby repealed: Provided that the repeal aforesaid shall not be construed as affecting the provisions of any of the said Acts by which conditions are attached to the holding of any office or payment of any salary attached thereto, unless the entire Act is by this Act repealed.

III. 26 Vic. c. 21. An Act for attaching a Salary to the office of Private Secretary of the Governor, for the time being. (Assented to 26th May, 1863.)

WHEREAS the salary now attached to the office of Private

Secretary to his Excellency the Governor is inadequate properly to remunerate that officer for the various duties performed by him; May it, &c.:

That from and after the first day of July, 1863, there shall be allowed and paid to the Private Secretary of the Governor, for the time being, in monthly payments out of the Public Treasury of these Islands, a salary at and after the rate of 2001. per

annum.

II. That so much of the Act of Assembly, 14 Vic. c. 15, as c. 15, repealed. provides for the payment of a salary to the Private Secretary, shall be, and the same is hereby repealed.
