MONDAY EVENING.

As for me and my house, we will serve the Lord. Joshua xxiv. 15.

He looketh upon men, and if any say, I have sinned and perverted that which was right, and it profited me not, He will deliver his soul from going into the pit, and his life shall see the light. Job xxxiii. 27, 28.

Blessed are they that hunger and thirst after righteousness, for they shall be filled. Matt. v. 6. Ask, and it shall be given you; seek, and ye shall find; knock, and it shall be opened unto you. Matthew vii. 7.

Christ is not entered into the holy places made with hands, which are the figures of the true, but into Heaven itself, now to appear in the presence of God for us. Hebrews ix. 24.

PSALM IV.

PRAISE AND CONFIDENCE.

1. O Come, let us sing unto the Lord; let us make a joyful noise to the rock of our salvation.

2. Let us come before his presence with thanksgiving, and make a joyful noise unto him with psalms.

3. O come, let us worship and bow down; let us kneel before the Lord our Maker.

4. For he is our God; and we are the people of his pasture, and the sheep of his hand.

5. Sing unto the Lord; bless his name; shew forth his salvation from day to day.

6. For the Lord is great, and greatly to be praised; he is to be feared above all Gods. xcvi. 2, 4.

8. The Lord is good; his mercy is lasting; and his truth endureth to all generations. c. 5.

9. The Lord executeth righteousness and judgment, for all that are oppressed.

11. Ye that fear the Lord, trust in the Lord: he is their help, and their shield.

13. Know that the Lord hath set apart him that is godly for himself; the Lord will hear when I call upon him.

14. Offer the sacrifices of righteousness, and put your trust in the Lord.

15. There be many that say, Who will shew us

any good? Lord, lift thou up the light of thy countenance upon us.

16. I will both lay me down in peace, and sleep; for thou, Lord, only, makest me dwell in safety. iv. 3, 5, 6, 8.

PSALM V.

PRAISE FOR CREATION AND PRESERVATION.

1. It is a good thing to give thanks unto the Lord, and to sing praises unto thy name, O Most High.

2. To shew forth thy loving kindness in the morning, and thy faithfulness every night, xcii. 1, 2.

3. By thee have I been holden up from the womb thou art he that took me out of my mothers bowels: my praise shall be continually of thee. lxxi. 6.

4. I will praise thee, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made; marvellous are thy works; and that my soul knoweth right well.

5. Thine eyes did see my substance, yet being imperfect; and in thy book all my members were written, which in continuance were fashioned, when as yet there was none of them.

6. How precious also are thy thoughts unto me, O God; how great is the sum of them! cxxxix. 14, 16, 17,

7. Who holdeth our soul in life, and suffereth not our feet to be moved. lxvi. 9.

8. In God is my salvation and my glory; the rock of my strength, and my refuge is in God. Ixii. 7.

9. The angel of the Lord encampeth round about them that fear him, and delivereth them.

10. O taste and see that the Lord is good; blessed is the man that trusteth in him.

11. O fear the Lord, ye his saints; for there is no want to them that fear him.

12. The young lions do lack, and suffer hunger; but they that seek the Lord shall not want any good thing.

13. Many are the afflictions of the righteous, but the Lord delivereth him out of them all.

14. He keepeth all his bones; not one of them is broken. xxxiv. 7, 8, 9, 10, 19, 20.

PSALM VI.

CONFESSION OF SIN, WITH PRAYER FOR MERCY.

1. Unto thee, O Lord, do I lift up my soul.

xxv. 1.

2. Hear the voice of my supplications, when I cry unto thee, when I lift up my hands towards thy holy oracle. xxviii. 2.

3. For I will declare my iniquity; I will be sorry for my sin. xxxviii. 18.

4. O God, thou knowest my foolishness, and my sins are not hid from thee.

5. Let not them that wait on thee, O Lord God of Hosts, be ashamed for my sake; let not those that seek thee be confounded for my sake, O God of Israel. Ixix. 5, 6.

6. As for me, my feet were almost gone; my steps had well nigh slipped. lxxiii. 2.

7. Unless the Lord had been my help, my soul had almost dwelt in silence. xciv. 17.

8. Let, I pray thee, thy merciful kindness be for my comfort, according to thy word unto thy servant. cxix. 76.

9. And enter not into judgment with thy servant; for in thy sight shall no man living be justified. cxliii. 2.

10. Make thy face to shine upon thy servant, and teach me thy statutes.

11. Great are thy tender mercies, O Lord; quicken me according to thy judgments. cxix.

12. And hide not thy face from thy servant; for I am in trouble; hear me speedily. Ixix. 17. Glory be, &c.
