COLONY OF LAGOS.

No. 2.-1865.

AN ORDINANCE to make regulations with respect to the roofing of buildings in the town of Lagos.

[7th January 1865.

WHEREAS it has been found impossible to obtain a sufficient quantity of Calabar bamboo mats for roofing in all the buildings in those parts of the town of Lagos required by law to be so roofed; and it is necessary in order to prevent the same becoming dilapidated to allow Country thatch or other covering for the roof to be used as heretofore: And whereas it is necessary that certain part of the town, comprising the dwellings and warehouses of the principal European and native merchants, should be preserved from the danger of fire by being roofed with materials of an uninflammable nature therein:

Be it therefore enacted by His Excellency the Governor of Her Majesty's Colony of Lagos, by and with the advice and consent of the Legislative Council thereof, and by authority of the same, as follows:
