II. The continuous service medals will be presented by the Commander-in-Chief at the South Armory, Irvington Street, Boston, on the evening of February 29, at 8 o'clock, and all officers and enlisted men named in paragraph 1 will report in full uniform at the above armory on said evening at 7.45 o'clock.

III. Brigade commanders will detail a color bearer for their headquarter colors. Commanding officers of battalions will detail one field officer, one line officer, two color sergeants and two armed men for duty, with their colors, on the above evening.

Commanding officers of Battery A, Company F, Cavalry, will detail their guidon bearer, with guidons, for duty on that evening. Col. Thomas R. Mathews, commanding First Infantry, will detail the chaplain of his command for duty on that evening.

The detail for colors will be made from men not receiving medals, and all such details will report to Col. William A. Bancroft, commanding Fifth Infantry, at South Armory, at 7.30 o'clock on the evening of February 29.

Col. William A. Bancroft, commanding Fifth Infantry, and Maj. Horace G. Kemp, commanding First Battalion of Cavalry, will detail a sergeant to report for duty to the Adjutant General at this office on the evening of February 29 at 7 o'clock.

IV. All officers and enlisted men ordered for duty in previous paragraphs of this order will be allowed mileage from headquarters of brigade, regiment, attalion and unattached companies. An allowance of $50 will be allowed to the bands of the First Infantry and Naval Battalion.

All details will report in full uniform, and will be allowed mileage, to be paid by this office.

V. The following past officers and enlisted men of the militia having been in service Jan. 1, 1891, are entitled to medals and bars, and the same will be presented on the evening of February 29, with others named above, and they are cordially invited to le present at 7.45 P.M., and report to Col. William A. Bancroft. They are requested to appear in the uniform of their former ranl, if possible.

VI. Cols. William A. Bancroft and Thomas R. Mathews, Maj. Horace G. Kemp and Lieut. Com. John C. Soley, officers located in the South Armory, having tendered their services, the same are accepted, and they will have charge of all ceremonies of the medal presentation.

VII. The field and staff of the First and Fifth Infantry, First Battalion of Cavalry and of the Naval Battalion, located in South Armory, having tendered their services as reception committee, the same are accepted, and they will receive instructions from the officers in charge of ceremonies.

VIII. Admission to the armory on the evening of February 29 will be by ticket, which will be forwarded to brigade, regimental, battalion and unattached company headquarters from this office. Officers and men taking part in the ceremonies and all commissioned officers of the militia will not require admission ticket. IX. Brigade and cadet company commanders are charged with the execution of this order.

SOUTH ARMORY, BOSTON, MASS., Feb. 19, 1892.

The undersigned, having been detailed under General Order No. 2, A. G. O., current series, to take charge of the ceremonies of the presentation of the long service medals, Feb. 29, 1892, publish the following for the information of those participating :

The reception committee to receive the Commander-in-Chief and invited guests will be the field and staff of the Fifth and First Regiments of Infantry, Cavalry Battalion and Naval Battalion. They are requested to assemble in full dress on that date in the board of officers' room of the South Armory at 7.30 o'clock P.M.

The companies of the First Regiment and Naval Battalion who have volunteered for this tour of duty will assemble in quarters at 7.30 o'clock P.M., in full dress light marching order, with band or details of trumpeters. Line will be formed at 7.45 o'clock P.M. in close column of companies or divisions, for review by the Governor, which will take place after the presentation of the medals and the review of the medalists and color details. The First Regiment of Infantry will form at the west end of the ball, the Naval Battalion at the east end, in close column of companies or divisions. At 8 o'clock P.M. the Governor and party will be conducted to their position by the reception committee, and will be received with the customary honors.

MEDALISTS.

All medalists will assemble in the boat hall of the Naval Battallion, South Armory, at 7.30 P.M., entering by the Dartmouth Street door. The formation will be in double rank, column of fours, detachments forming by seniority, under command of their senior officer. They will form line at 7.45 P.M., in the drill hall, Gen. B. J. Peach, Jr., in command. The following will be the routine at the presentation ceremonies: Brigade, regimental, battalion and unattached company commanders will successively be called to the front by the Adjutant General, with such officers and men as are entitled to the long service medals in order of seniority. The Adjutant General will announce the names of the medalists. The Governor will then present the medals, collectively, to each commander of organizations. As soon as the medals are presented the detachment will return to its original position by the shortest route. At the conclusion of the presentation ceremony the medalists, preceded by the Naval Battalion band, will pass in review in column of fours, passing into the boat hall of the Naval Battalion, where they will be dismissed.

Officers will wear side arms; enlisted men of infantry, except color details, will wear belts and bayonets; enlisted men of cavalry and artillery will wear sabres.

TROOPING THE COLORS.

The following routine will govern the detachments detailed for the ceremony of trooping the colors. The color detail, consisting of one field officer, one line officer, two color sergeants and two armed enlisted men, will report in full dress at the South Armory, Irvington Street, Feb. 29, 1892, at 7.30 o'clock P.M., in the upper hall at the Irvington Street entrance, to Col. Wm. A. Bancroft. After the entrance of the Governor in the drill hall the details will
