of appropriations which are to be carried

to the next annual statement.

NOTE. The figures in the columns of this statement headed "References to acts" refer to the particular acts of appropriation (on the next pages) which authorize the expenditure of the sums placed on the same lines with them in the columns headed "Appropriations for the fiscal year ending June 30, 1857."

General statement of certain appropriations made by law for the fiscal year ending June 30, 1857, including the balances of former appropriations unexpended on the last day of June, 1856; exhibiting also the expenditures of the United States in the fiscal year ending June 30, 1857, on warrants issued by the Secretary of the Treasury, and unexpended balances of appropriations, which are to be carried to the next annual statement.
