we have been preparing for the future which we must now encounter. We know full well that the diploma of our Alma Mater is not an immediate passport to reputation or position. Action and worth must give it value in the eyes of a critical public. And to-day, more than at any other age of our history, "the school master is abroad,' the world is educated and society views with look askance the influx of new life which it annually receives from its universities and colleges.

"'Tis vain for the world to seek in men for more than men." And as we advance into the arena of activity, we foster the hope that society may find in us subjects worthy of winning its regard.

We can no longer shut our eyes to the fact that our college year is almost dead, for unerving signs point to it with painful evidence. Examinations, together with the preparations for commencement and the long vacation, tell us but too truly that but a few days more and we too shall be numbered among those of past days. The pleasant associations of the present board of editors have formed new and strengthened the old ties of friendship to that degree which can only result from the close intercourse of college men. But now, with the closing days of our school life, we too, as the editors of this publication, must say our farewell and give into other hands our duties of the past year, which, on account of the pleasures experienced,
