A catechism.

3. Why then is this a catechism?
It instructs by question and answer.
4. Why are you catechised?

That I may understand what I am taught. 5. What are you taught in the Church Catechism?

The Christian religion.

6. In what manner should you be taught this?

So as to understand it.

7. Quote a text to prove that you should understand what you learn.

8. What does S. Luke say he wrote his Gospel for?

That we might understand. S. Luke i. 2, 3, 4.

9. Why are you taught as children?

GOD enjoins it: "Thou shalt teach thy children." Deut. vi. 7.

10. At what age did our LORD, as a child, dispute with the doctors? Twelve years. S. Luke ii. 42.

11. What person is praised by S. Paul for having known the Holy Scriptures from a child?

Timothy. 2 Tim. iii. 15.

Depart from it. Prov. xxii. 6.

13. What will probably become of the child who is left to himself?

The Wise Man saith, "He will bring his mother to shame." Prov. xxix. 15.
