THE HISTORY OF MEDICINE,

BY

ALEXANDER Wilder, M. D.,

Secretary National Eclectic Medical Association.

Being a complete History of the healing art from the earliest periods of antiquity to the present day, including all schools and sects in medicine.

When the work was begun the author only intended to write a history of Eclectic medicine, but in consequence of the difficulty of getting correct data from many of the states, he was delayed in this work. He then decided to prepare a sketch of medical history from the Archaic Period down to the rise of the American schools, including sketches of the principal characters, forms of medical practice, etc., that have flourished and had their influence in broadening and modifying the current sentiment and methods.
