BAKEWELL: JOHN GOODWIN.

MDCCCXLI.

J. GOODWIN, PRINTER, BAKEWELL. TO THE

RIGHT REV. THE LORD BISHOP OF LICHFIELD.

My LORD,

When the high and the honoured, the gifted in mind not less than exalted in station, derive pleasure from protecting the interests of Literature, well may she be proud of the support. Such patronage, when the cause of Religion is concerned, is of the utmost value: like mercy, “it is twice blessed;" and powerfully elicits the feeling of unqualified respect with which, in dedicating to your Lordship the following pages, I have the honour to subscribe myself,

My Lord,

Your Lordship's faithful and obliged Servant,

R. LEE.

Darleigh RECTORY,

Jan. 1, 1841.
