That Our said Lieutenant-Governor in Council, after such deposit of the said last mentioned Roll, may, by Proclamation, declare the day on, from and after which the same shall come into force and have effect as law, by the designation of the "Revised Statutes of the Province of Quebec;"

That, on, from and after such day, the Roll shall accordingly come into force and effect as an 1 by the designation of the "Revised Statutes of the Province of Quebec" to all intents as though the same were expressly embodied in and enacted by the said act, to come into force and have effect on, from and after such day;

That, from and after the same day, all the enactments in the several acts and parts of acts in such amended Appendix A, mentioned as repealed, shall, in so far as they are within the legislative authority of the Province of Quebec, be repealed to the extent mentioned in the third column of the said Appendix;

AND WHEREAS Our said Lieutenant-Governor has, by Order in Council, bearing date the fourteenth day of May, in the year of Our Lord one thousand eight hundred and eighty-eight, selected from the acts passed during the said session of the Legislature of Quebec, held in the fiftieth year of Our Reign, the acts and parts of acts, mentioned in annex No. 1, hereto attached, which he deemed it advisable to incorporate with the statutes contained in the said Roll marked A, and has caused them to be so incorporated therewith, adapting their form and language to those of the said statutes, (but without changing their legal effect), and inserting them in their proper place in the said statutes, striking out of the latter any enactments repealed by or inconsistent with those so incorporated, altering the numbering or order of the titles, chapters, sections, paragraphs and articles, so far as was necessary, and adding, to the said Appendix marked A, a list of the acts and parts of acts so incorporated as aforesaid, and amending the statutes in the particulars and to the extent set forth in the Appendix to the said act, hereinbefore in part recited;

WHEREAS, before depositing in the office of the Clerk of the Legislature the said printed Roll, and issuing the proclamation to put the Revised Statutes into force, in accordance with sections 3 and 4 of the said act 50 Victoria, chapter 5, it was deemed expedient to incorporate therewith the statutes of a general nature passed during the last session, held in the fiftyfirst and fifty-second years of Our Reign, and by an act passed in the said last session, chaptered two and intituled "An Act respecting the Revised Statutes of the Province of Quebec," it is among other things in effect enacted:

That our said Lieutenant-Governor may select such acts and parts of acts passed during the said session as he may deem advisable to incorporate with the Roll marked A, mentioned in the act 50 Victoria, chapter 5, as being that of the statutes revised, classified and consolidated, and may incorporate them therewith, adapting their form and language to those of the

said statutes, but without changing their legal effect, inserting them in their proper places in the said statutes, striking out of the latter any enactments repealed by or inconsistent with those so incorporated, altering the numbering of the titles, chapters, sections, paragraphs and articles, or their order, if need be, and adding to the Appendix A of the said act, after the list of the acts and parts of acts of the session, held in the fiftieth year of Our Reign, which was added thereto, a list of the acts and parts of acts of the last session held in the fiftyfirst and fifty-second years of Our Reign, incorporated as aforesaid;

That, so soon as the said incorporation of such acts and parts of acts and the said additions and changes to be made in the said Appendix A have been completed, the LieutenantGovernor may cause a printed Roll thereof, attested under his signature and countersigned by the Provincial Secretary, to be deposited in the office of the Clerk of the Legislature, which Roll shall be held to be the original thereof, and to embody so much of the several acts and parts of acts mentioned as repealed in the amended Appendix A thereto annexed;

AND WHEREAS Our said Lieutenant-Governor has, by Order in Council, bearing date the twenty-ninth day of August, in the year of Our Lord one thousand eight hundred and eighty-eight, selected from the acts passed during the session of the Legislature of Quebec, held in the fifty-first and fifty-second years of Our Reign, the acts and parts of acts mentioned in annex No. 2, attached hereto, which he deemed advisable to incorporate with the statutes contained in the said Roll marked A, and has caused them to be so incorporated therewith, adapting their form and language to those of the said statutes, (but without changing their legal effect), and inserting them in their proper place in the said statutes, striking out of the latter any enactments repealed by or inconsistent with those so incorporated, altering the numbering or order of the titles, chapters, sections, paragraphs and articles, so far as was necessary, and adding to the said Appendix marked A, a list of the acts and parts of acts so incorporated as aforesaid, and amending the statutes in the particulars and to the extent set forth in the said act, herein before in part recited;

WHEREAS the said incorporation of the said acts and parts of acts with the said statutes and the said additions to the said Appendix A, having been so completed as aforesaid, Our said Lieutenant-Governor has caused a correct printed Roll thereof, attested under his signature and countersigned by the Provincial Secretary, to be deposited in the office of the Clerk of the Legislature;

WHEREAS the provisions contained in the first three sections of the said act 50 Victoria, chapter 5, and in the first two sections of the said act, 51-52 Victoria, chapter 2, hereinbefore in part recited, have thus been duly carried into effect;

AND WHEREAS, Our said Lieutenant-Governor has, since such deposit of the said last mentioned Roll, by and with the advice of Our Executive Council for Our Province of Quebec, declared the first day of January next as the day on, from and after which the same shall come into force and have effect as law by the designation of the "Revised Statutes of the Province of Quebec;

Now KNOW YE, that by and with the advice of Our Executive Council of Our Province of Quebec, We do, by this Our Royal Proclamation, declare that on, from and after the first day of January next, the said last mentioned Roll, attested by the signature of Our said Lieutenant-Governor of Our Province of Quebec, countersigned by the Provincial Secretary, and deposited in the office of the Clerk of the Legislature, shall come into force and have effect as law by the designation of the "Revised Statutes of the Province of Quebec," to all intents as if the same were expressly embodied in and enacted by the said acts herein before in part recited, to come into force and have effect on, from and after the said first day of January next.

OF ALL WHICH Our loving subjects, and all others whom these presents may concern, are hereby required to take notice and to govern themselves accordingly.

IN TESTIMONY WHEREOF, We have caused these Our Letters to be made Patent, and the Great Seal of Our said Province of Quebec to be hereunto affixed.

WITNESS our trusty and well-beloved, the Honorable Auguste Real Angers, Lieutenant-Governor of Our said Province of Quebec, at Our Government House, in Our City of Quebec, in Our said Province of Quebec, this nineteenth day of December, in the year of Our Lord, one thousand eight hundred and eighty-eight, and in the fifty-second year of Our Reign.
