twain (1) It may be of Use to cake notice here, that such Expressions as these, To put on Christ, to be, and abide in Christ, to know the Truth, to be born of God, or of Christ, &c. import the being a true Disciple and Follower of Jesus Christ, or the being a true Christian, whole Mind and Life is reformed according to the Rules and Precepts of the Gospel. It is indeed our Duty to own and profess our felves Christians ; but these Expressions imply much more. As Metal cast in a Mold receives a new Form from it; fo every true Christian receives, such divine Impreslions from the Do&trine, Example, and Spirit of Christ, that he is in a Moral Sense a new Creature.

(1) By the Elements of this World, is meant the Rites and Cerimonies of the Mosaical Law, which the Apostie, Gal. 3. 24. calls our schooi master; the Design of which Law was to instruct and prepare those to whom it was given, for receiving the higher and more perfe&t Institution and Doctrine of Jesus Christ. The outward bodily observances, &c. taughe by the Ceremonial Law, might be styled Elements, or Rudiments, in reference to the heavenly Doctrine delivered to Men by Jesus Christ and his Apostles,concerning the future and eternal Rewards of the other State, and the divine and holy Life requisite to prepare all those who would have a reasonable Hope of being made partakers of them.
(2) Expositors, by this Expreslion, The Fulness of Time, undersiand not only that scalon which God in his infinite Wifdom had appointed for this purpose, and which was pointed out by the Prophets, but likewise that time when God saw the World most fitted and prepared to receive fo
