entirely narrative, and embrace a period from the supersession of "This monograph, as indicated in the title given above, will be Buell until the occupation of Murfreesboro' after the battle of Stone River.-a length of time crowded full of incident, startling peril, and glorious victory. From the well-known reputation of the author, W. D. Bickhamn, Esq., as a graphic and vigorous wri ter, and the superior advantages afforded him for obtaining inportant information, we are confident it will prove interesting and valuable to the many whose hopes follow the fortunes of the Army of the Cumberland, and to the few who cherish the history that is now being made. Mr. Bickham shows commendable judg ment in not attempting to set down any thing in his book which he did not witness, or, from his position as correspondent of a prominent paper and aide to the commanding general, the truthfulness of which he was unable to confirm."-Cincinnati Gazette.

"THE TENNESSEE CAMPAIGN OF GENERAL ROSECRANS -Our well-known correspondent, WILLIAM D. BICKHAM, Esq. (W. D. B.'), has prepared a history of the campaign of General Rost CRANS in Tennessee, commencing with the assumption of the com mand of the Army of the Cumberland by General ROSECRANS, 8D4 concluding with the battle of Stone River and the capture of Murfreesboro'. Mr. BICKHAM accompanied General ROSECRANS through the campaign, and served him as volunteer aide in the great battle. He had, therefore, extraordinary opportunities £; personal observation, and his experience gained in the campaign in Western Virginia, and on the Peninsula with the Army of the Potomac, enabled him to avail himself of those opportunities with the advantage of familiarity with the scenes of war. Is addition to writing out carefully the history of the campaign. and devotes attention to the performances of each brigade in the BICKHAM gives the official reports of the battle of Stone Five great battle. His volume, we doubt not, will possess much general interest, and will be especially acceptable to the actors the campaign and their personal friends. It will be issued. the course of a fortnight, by MOORE, WILSTACH, KEYS & Co."—» cinnati Commercial.

1 vol. 12mo. Price, $1.50.

By AUGUSTIN COCHIN. Translated by Miss MARY L. BOOTH, Translator of M. GASPARIN's Works on America.

These valuable books have been received with an enthusiastic welcome in some degree commensurate with their interest and importance. The first volume, discussing the "Results of Emancipation," abounds with information of the utmost importance to our nation just at this time. It shows conclusively, from the most authentic documents, that Emancipation is not only a perfectly safe policy, pecuniarily, socially, and politically, but the only safe policy,

The second volume, illustrating the "Results of Slavery," is, of course, largely upon this country, and therefore not less interesting to our people.

The voice of the loyal press all over the country is unanimous in bearing testimony to the truthfulness, importance, and per manent value of these books. The demand for them is limited only by the intelligence and patriotism of our people. THE TRADE will find a sale for them proportioned to the publicity given to the fact that they have them for sale.
