NO.2-NORTHERN DISTRICT. From Old Road River at Belhams Works on to the North or Saint Peters Church including Old Road Water work, Friths Needmust Flemings Hope Glebe Duberrys Woodlands and all other residents on that line.

NO.3--NORTHERN DISTRICT. From Saint Peters Church on to the Folly Estate and thence to Carrs Bay including Fogathys Virgin Islands Ponds Banks and Folly Estate and all others resident or that District.

N0.4-NORTHERN DISTRICT. From Cudjobs head on to Barzeys Estate from that to Blakes and Look Out, by Gerralds Isratë down to Carrs Bay including Baker hill, Barzeys, Blakes Lock Out Gerralds Old northward Sweenys Valentine Gut Rendezvous and all others residing in that District.

NO.5-NORTHERN DISTRICT: From the turning at Fryes Estate up to Weekses, to Molineux Estate including the residents on Weeks and Two Rivers.

N0.1-SOUTHERN DISTRICT. From Mr. Gibbons house at the cross including all Wapping and others resident in that district of the Town up constitution will on to the turning up to Amershams works including Parsons Estate and all others resident on that district down to Amershams lower works and back across the Bay to Mr. Percys Store house.

NO.2-SOUTHERN DISTRICT. From Amersham lower works on to Galways works including Little Town or Kinsale Brodericks Chateau Reeds Hill Spring Germans Bay and the high road to Brodericks and spring and all persons otherwise resident in that district.

NO. 3-SOUTHERN DISTRICT. From Galways Estate works on to Roaches works including all residents on Roaches Estate and that District generally,

NO. 4–SOUTHERN DISTRICT. Trom whence the highroad turns up to Galways on to the further Cove house including Morris, Bushy Park, Furgus Mountain, Upper and Lower Cove and all others resident in that District.

An Act to alter and amend An Act entitled

“ An Act to grant to Her Majesty a Tax upon all
real Property in this Island for the Public Service.”

[Dated, 6th September, 1858.
W HEREAS it is expedient to alter and amend An Act

V entitled “ An Act to grant to Her Majesty a Tax upon all real Property in this Island for the Public Service," and to continue in force for a longer period the Act so altered and amended.

Be it therefore enacted by the Officer Administering the Government of the said Island, and the Council and Assembly of the same ;

I. That the First Section of the said recited Act shall be First Section of and the same is hereby repealed.

II. That for the Public Service of this Island a Tax of A Tax of 15 Fifteen Shillings on each One Hundred Pounds shall be raised, levied, and collected, for the Year One Thousand Eight Hundred and Fifty Nine, on the value of the Properties mentioned and described in the Schedules A. and B. to the before recited Act annexed.

III. That the said Act altered and amended as hereinbefore the mentioned shall continue and be in full force and virtue for Act to be in and during the term of One Year from the passing of this Act. Dated at Montserrat the Sixth Day of September One Thousand Date.

An Act for shortening the language used in

Acts of the Legislature of Montserrat. EDWARD E. RUSHWORTH. [L. S.]

D E IT ENACTED by tlie President Administering the Govern

D ment, the Council and Assembly of Montserrat; And it is hereby enacted by the authority of the same as follows:

I. Every Act to be passed after the commencement of this Act may be altered, amended, or repealed in the same Session of the Legislature, and may be assented to by the Governor after the termination of such Session.

II. All Acts shall be divided into Sections or Clauses, if there be more enactments than one, which Clauses or Sections shall be deemed to be substantive enactments without any introductory words.

III. In all Acts the word “Governor" shall be construed to mean the Officer for the time being Administering the Government of this Island, unless the context shall shew or words be added shewing some other Officer to be intended.

IV. In all Acts words importing the Masculine Gender shall, if such construction shall not be inconsistent with the context or subject matter, be deemed to include females, and the Singular Number to include the Plural, and the Plural the Singular; and the word “ Month” shall be deemed to mean Calendar Month, unless words be added shewing Lunar Month to be intended; and the word “Land” shall include Messuages, Tenements and Hereditaments, Houses and Buildings of any tenour, unless where there are words to exclude Houses and Buildings, or to restrict the meaning to Tenements of some particular tenour; the words “ Oath," “ Swear," “ Affidavit," shall include Affirmation, Declaration, Affirming and Declaring in the case of persons by Law allowed to declare or affirm instead of swearing; and the word “ Justice,” when applied to an Officer or person, shall mean any Justice of the Peace of this Island, unless the context shall shew or words be added shewing some particular office to be intended.

V. Where any Act repealing in whole or in part any former
