HEREAS the Municipal Council of the District of Dalhousie hare set freamble.

forth by their Petition, that the Taxes for the Township of Gloucester, in the said District, for the year one thousand eight hundred and furiy-four, bare not been collecteu, in consequence of improper conduct of the officer appointed to perform that duty; and whereas doubts exist as to the power of enforcing the payment of such tases by law: Be it therefore enacted by the Queen's Most Excellent Majesty, by and with the advice and consent of the legislative Council and of the Legislative Assembly of the Province of Canada, constilled and assembled by virtue of and under the authority of an Act passeil in the Parliament of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Ireland, intirulei, An Act lo Ri-unite the Provinces of Upper and Luer Cannul, and for the Government of Canada, and it is hereby enacted by the authority of the same, Thit it shall and Ratcs due for

Mill-dams or Streams, in the District of Huron.

HEREAS divers owners of Mill-dams in the District of Huron, have not Preamble.

complied with the provisions of the Act of the Legislature of Upper Canada, passed in the ninth year of the Reign of His late Majesty, King George Act of U. C. the Fourth, and intituled, An Act to provide for the Construction of Aprons to Mill 'Geo. IV. c. 4, Dams over certain Streams in this Province, and it is expedient to make more effectual provision for facilitating the passing of rafts, and the ascent of fish on the streams on which dams are erected in the said District: Be it therefore enacted by the Queen's Most Exceilent Majesty, by and with the advice and consent of the Legislative Council and of the Legislative Assembly of the Province of Canada, constituted and assembled by virtue of and under the authority of an Act passed in the Parliament of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Ireland, inituled, An Act to Re-unite the Provinces of Upper and Lower Canada, and for the Government of Canada, and it is hereby enacted by the authority of the same, That the owner or occupier of every Dam or Weir erected on any river or stream Owners or oc. in the District of Huron in Upper Canada, who shall not before the passing of cupiers of this Act have complied with the requirements of the Act herein first above cited, Weirs,not havshall

the requirements of this Act shall remain uncomplied with; and such penalty shall be recoverable before any iwo Justices of the Peace for the District in which the oflence shall be committed, on the oath of one credible witness; and if not paid, may be levied by distress and sale of the goods and chattels of the offender, by warrant under the hand and seal of such Justices or either of thein; and one moiety of such penalty shall belong to Her Majesty for the public uses of the Province, and the other inoiety to the prosecutor.

HEREAS it is expedient 'to render permanent the respective Boards of Preamble.

Trade established in the Cities of Montreal and Quebec, and now incorporated by Law: Be it therefore enacted by the Queen's Most Excellent Majesty, by and with the advice and consent of the Legislative Council and of the Legislative Assembly of the Province of Canada, constituted and assembled by virtue of and under the authority of an Act passed in the Parliament of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Ireland, and intituled, An Act lo Re-unite the Provinces of Upper and Lower Canada, and for the Government of Canada, and it is hereby enacted by Clauscs renthe authority of the same, That the twenty-sixth clause of an Act of the Parliament dering said of this Province, passed in the fourth and fifth years of Her Majesty's Reign, intituled, ry repealed. An Act to incorporate the Montreal Board of Trade, and the twenty-third clause of a certain Act of the said Parliament, passed in the same year, intituled, An Act to incorporate the Quebec Board of Trade, be, and the same are hereby repealed,
