CHAP. CX.—An Act authorizing the Governor and Bourd of Public Works to lease the grounds laying along the line of Washington canal. CHAP. CXI.-An Act to make judgments a lien on equitable interests. Be it enacted by the Legislative Assembly of the District of Columbia, That all judgments that have been, or hereafter may be, entered by the supreme court of the District of Columbia against any person or persons, or incorporated company, and all judgments which have been, or hereafter erly filed, made liens shall be, entered against any person or persons, or incor- ests. porated company, by any duly commissioned and qualified justice of the peace in and for the District of Columbia, which judgments shall have been filed in the clerk's office of the supreme court of the District of Columbia in pursuance of the third section of the act of Congress, entitled "An act to further amend the law of the District of Columbia in relation to judicial proceedings and preserve records of marriages therein," approved first day of June, Anno Domini eighteen hundred and seventy, be, and the same are hereby, made and declared to be a lien on equitable interests of such person or persons, or incorporated company,

Be it resolved by the Legislative Assembly of the District of Columbia, That the provisions of the act entitled "An act to provide temporary officers for the cities of Washington, Georgetown, and the county of Washington," approved June two, eighteen hundred and seventy-one, which authorizes the Governor to appoint officers therein named, be continued in force from and after the expiration of the period therein named until such time as it shall be otherwise provided by law: Provided, That said officers Proviso. shall be regarded in all respects officers of the District of Columbia, and shall perform such duties, in addition to those now specially imposed on them, not inconsistent with the nature of their offices, as the Governor may find necessary to the due execution and enforcement of any of the ordinances or laws of the District.

SEC. 2. And be it further enacted, That, by reason of the emergency arising from the necessity for providing at once for the administration of municipal affairs, this act shall go into effect immediately. Approved July 24, 1871.

Be it resolved by the Legislative Assembly of the District of Columbia, That whereas Congress, in its act approved February twenty-one, eighteen hundred and seventy-one, entitled "An act to provide a government for the District of Columbia," enacts that the Board of Public Works shall have entire control of, and make all regulations which they deem necessary for keeping in repair the streets, avenues, alleys, and sewers of the city; and whereas, for the proper and contemporaneous improvement of said streets, and so forth, it is important that the authorities to lay water-mains, and the additional authority exercised by the Water Board of the city of Washington, shall be vested in the Board of Public Works; therefore, be it Resolved, That all the authorities now exercised by and conveyed to the Water Board of Washington city by the ferred to Board of acts of the corporation of said city be, and same are hereby, transferred to the Board of Public Works, and the office of said Water Board is hereby abolished. Be it resolved by the Legislative Assembly of the District of Columbia, That dealers in meat, vegetables, and provisions may occupy stalls and carry on their business in the butchers' and farmers' market, in Georgetown, upon the payment of the same amount of license or rent as is now paid by dealers in the market known as the Corporation market. This resolution to remain in force for the term of one year.
