The President is authorized, by act of July 14, 1832, to allow to such offcers as have heretofore received the brevet rank of Majors in the Marine orps, the amount of pay and emoluments to which they would have been titled as Commandants of sepa ate Stations. And by a joint resolution of May 25, 1832, it is provided that the pay, subsistence, emoluments, and allowances, of the Marine Corps shall be the same as they were previous to April 1, 1829, and shall so continue, until altered by law.
GOVERNMENT OF THE NAVY.
By an Act of May, 19, 1832, the President was authorized to constitute a Board of Naval Officers to consist of the Navy Commissioners, and two Post Captains to meet at the Seat of Government, and with the aid of the Attorney General, carefully to revise and enlarge the rules and regulations of the Navy, "with the view to adapt them to the present and future exigen cies of this important arm of national defence." This Board consists of the Navy Commissioners, Com. Hull, Com. Ridgely, and the Attorney General.
