WHAT IS GOD?

WHERE IS GOD?

We have heard all our lives about God. It is a very familiar word, a household word; such a common word that in this land of ours perhaps it is the word that is spoken oftenest of any that we have; sometimes in one way sometimes in another, but always with power. For thou shalt not take the name of the Lord thy God in vain, for the Lord will not hold him guiltless that taketh his name in vain. Never ask God to do anything, unless you are willing that the thing you ask shall come upon everyone. Never ask God to do anything and then not trust him to do it, that is taking his name in vain; that is acknowledging the form and denying the power.

In the Book of Life it is written, In the beginning God created the Heaven and the earth, and in other places we are told plainly or given to understand, that God created all things, without him was not anything made that was made. Paul says, God that made the world and all things therein seeing that he is Lord of Heaven and earth, etc.

As Christians we therefore believe in the Almighty power of God, that God is the only power in the Heaven and earth. And as we look to this power we find that it is always to be depended upon, in all cases, for it is the only power in the Heaven and earth.

Some prefer to say it is the highest power, and we agree with them, for the highest power controls all

This lesson is for the purpose of finding out what God is, so that we may know what man, created in the image, after the likeness of God, is. God created all things, and whatever is created, was created by God, for he is the only Creator; there is but one Creator or Father in all the Universe.

I like the name of Father or Mother; it brings one so close to home, to where we belong, to where we were born. How one likes to go back to the land of their birth, and visit old, familiar scenes and meet old friends.

So God created man in his own image, in the image of God created he him: male and female created he them. The male and female are both created in the image of God, and so God must be a combination of the male and female, or both could not be in the image of God.

We are told also that they twain shall be one, and when the two shall be as one it would seem that they would be more nearly in the image of God. The Master quotes the passage in Deuteronomy, Hear O Israel, the Lord our God is One Lord, or One Principle, or One Law.

It is customary to designate anything with power or strength in the masculine gender, while those of gentleness are more often given the feminine gender; and so we have been led to think of God more in the line of Father than Mother; but in reality God, the Creator, is a union or

combination of both. God is Principle; Male and Female; Father and Mother.

A Father's Love is more rigid, unyielding, as a rule than a Mother's, and we seem thereby to have lost in a measure the tenderness and compassion of a mother's love when thinking of the Infinite. We will pick up these broken strands as it were and weave over again the problem of Life and Health and Peace.

God is everywhere, there is no place, state, condition or circumstance but what you can and ought to take your Ruler, your King or your Principle. We say of some persons they don't seem to have any principle and it is pretty much as though we had said, they don't seem to have any God. They could talk a great deal about God, but now this is for getting at practical results, this is for weaving into our life and mind the ideas that are advanced. Practice what you think. All the world is doing so, they are practicing what they think. Think right and you will begin to practice right.

God is everywhere, sees everything that is to be seen, hears everything, knows everything. There is no such thing as deceiving God. In fact every thought we hold leaves its effect and we cannot deceive God, or the man that is made in the image of God.

God is Omnipresent, Omniscient, Omnipotent; words that we have always been familiar with. If we really believe them and square our actions in accordance with them, whole life will begin to be just like the Life that God intended us to live.

We have always heard that a man is known by the company he keeps. Do we all know that God is with us always? Sees what we see when we see anything, hears what we hear, hears what we speak, knows what we think.

As we realize this our every thought, word, action, deed is a prayer. Whatever we say to God is a prayer and everything we say, is to God, for God is everywhere, we cannot get outside of God. He fills all conditions, circumstances, time and space.

God is everywhere and his Kingdom is everywhere, for his Kingdom is wherever he is, and if we believe that God is Always Present, then we must also believe that his Kingdom is Always Present.

If we ask anything that God has, he will give it to us.
God is Life.

To know God aright and him whom he sent is Life Eternal. If we ask God for Life he will give it to us. God is Life. God is Life, and if we ask him for Life he will give it to. us. His Messenger said, I am come that you may have Life and have it more abundantly.

God is Truth.

If we ask him for Truth he will give it to us.
God is Strength.

If we ask him for Strength, we shall get strong.

In just the way we ask him for things we need, if he has them he will give them to us. He giveth his things without measure, he giveth liberally, he giveth all that he hath.

If ye being evil, know how to give good things to your children, how much more shall your Father which is in Heaven know how to give you good things, for he hasn't any but good things to give you.

He made nothing that was not good. And God saw everything that he had made and behold, it was very good. You won't get anything that is not good from God, for he hasn't any but good things to give his children.

God is all Knowledge, seek Wisdom, seek God for God is Wisdom. Wisdom is to be more desired than gold or silver, with all your getting get Understanding. How does

any one get Wisdom or Understanding? They get it with or through the Mind. Let the same Mind be in you that was in Christ Jesus our Lord.

Let the same Spirit be in you that was in Christ. Let the Holy Spirit or the Holy Mind be in you. Let the Mind that is God be yours. Ask God for the Immortal Mind or for his Mind and you will get it, for he says, I stand at the door and knock, if any one is willing I will come in and live with him.

I will come in, who is this I that will come in? It is the Immortal Mind. It is the Truth. It is the Spirit of the Lord. It is the same Spirit that Jesus had when he said, The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, because he hath anointed me to preach the gospel to the poor: he hath sent me to heal the broken hearted; to preach deliverance to the captives; and recovering of sight to the blind; to set at liberty them that are bruised. To preach the acceptable year of the Lord,

Isaiah said the same thing. You and I can say the same thing.

God gives you Life, Health, Strength, Peace, Joy, Hap、 piness, Truth, Spirit, Intelligence, anything that is Good. God is Good, then Good is God. If it is true, it works in all directions. If we ask any Good thing we shall get it.

God is Love and Love is God.

The whole law and gospel is contained in the two commands, Love God with all thy heart, mind, soul, and Love thy neighbor as thyself.

Love is Charity.

Do unto others as you would like to have others do to you.

God is Mercy.

As we show mercy to others, others show mercy to us. As we show Love or Charity to others, they show charity to
