THE IMAGE OF GOD.

ND God said, let us make man in our image, after our

likeness: and let them have dominion over the fish of

the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over the cattle, and over all the earth and over every creeping thing that creepeth upon the earth. So God created man in his own image, in the image of God created he him, male and female created he them. And God blessed them and God said unto them, Be fruitful and multiply and replenish the earth and subdue it: and have dominion over the fish of the sea and over the fowl of the air and over every living thing that moveth upon the earth.

Before we can have any idea of man, it will be necessary to know something of God. If we are made in the image of God, after his likeness, and are to have dominion over the fish, the fowl, the cattle, the earth and all that therein is, Where is this man?

Who are they? for they are created male and female, and God blessed them and said, Be fruitful, multiply and replenish the earth and subdue it and have dominion over all things. If we know what God is like, then we can tell man when we find him.

Have we found or heard of any one that had dominion over the fish of the sea, over the fowl of the air, over the cattle, and over all the earth, and over every creeping thing that creepeth upon the earth? Jesus of Nazareth seemed to have great power over the fishes, and if we exam: ine the Scripture through his mind, or get his idea, it is possible we may get a key that will unlock the mystery.

He was telling his disciples and the multitude about God, about the Father and his Kingdom. It is true they did not seem to understand him very well, but with that we have nothing to do; the point is, do we understand him ? He has a good deal to say about the Son of man and the Son of God. Are there two creators, God and mar, or is there only one ? If there is but one Creator, then in reality we are all his Sons and Daughters.

He tells us here in the beginning, that he made man in his own image, after his likeness; that he is our Creator, or as Jesus puts it, Our Father: then we are all his Sons and Daughters; Sons of God and Daughters of God.

We are brothers and sisters of Jesus if we do the will of God, for Jesus said, Who are my brothers and sisters ? Whosoever shall do the will of my Father which is in Heaven, is my brother and sister and mother.

All Christians concede that Jesus was the Son of God, and that what he said and did, was the Truth. And, as Christian Scientists, we implicitly take his statements and base our teachings upon them, else we would not be Christian Scientists. We might be some other kind of Scientists, but if we hold to the name of Christian, it will be necessary to follow the teachings of the Master. Therefore whosoever shall do the will of God is a brother and sister of Jesus, or is a Son or Daughter of God.

Whosoever is doing the will of God is in the image of God, after the likeness of God. What is the will of God? If any man willeth to do his will, he shall know of the teachings, whether it be of God or whether I speak from myself. If any man willeth, or is willing, to do his will, he shall know of the teachings, whether it be of God or

man. All that man has to do is to come to the study of the Truth with a willingness, or a willing mind, heart or spirit.

The generally accepted term or idea of God is, that God is Omnipresent, Omniscient, Omnipotent; or that God is Always present with everyone, that God knows All things, and that God is All powerful or All potent. This idea has a big sweep if we take a stand in the centre of it, and let it sweep round in the course it would naturally take; or the course any other proposition would take if it were disconnected from any preconceived ideas. As we find it necessary to be willing to receive the Truth before we can actually receive it; so we must be willing to take a stand somewhere, if we are going to know anything at all. We must be willing to say, I do believe this and everything that it implies.

The distinguishing feature of the Jewish and Christian religion is that they believe in a Creator that is All Powerful, All Mighty, All Knowledge, All Good, All Mercy, All Charity. A Father from whom flows every good and perfect thing; a Father that is always to be depended upon, ready for any emergency that could be conceived of, out of whose Presence and Power we cannot get.

In fact the highest and most sublime thoughts or ideas of a man, are an outpicturing to his mind of the Supreme Being. The Supreme Being. The Highest and Most Exalted thoughts one can have, are the Supreme Thoughts; and when taken in connection with God, we call it the Supreme Being, because there is nothing that can be conceived of beyond the Highest and Most Exalted.

For this reason we are given the commandments. I am the Lord thy God which brought thee out of the land of Egypt, out of the house of bondage. Thou shalt have no other gods before Me. Thou shalt not make unto thee any

graven image or any likeness of anything that is in Heaven above, or that is in the earth beneath, or that is in the water under the earth. Thou shalt not bow down thyself to them, nor serve them ; for I the Lord thy God am a Jealous God, visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the children, unto the third and fourth generation of them that hate me; and showing mercy unto thousands of them that love me, and keep my commandments.

1, the Lord thy God, I brought thee out of servitude and slavery. Thou shalt not have anything before Me. Thou shalt not make any image or the likeness of anything, Angel or Spirit, that is in Heaven above; man, woman, husband, wife, son, daughter, gold, silver, houses, lands, knowledge, learning, that is in the earth beneath or that is in the water under the earth. Thou shalt not bow down thyself to them, nor serve them, because God only shalt thou bow down to and serve. I am Supreme, Over-all and Above-all: worship Me alone.

And God said, let us make man in our likeness, after our image. Man then is in the image of the Supreme. The highest conception of what God is, man can be.

State your highest conception of what God is, and you will find that you will begin to be what you think God is; for you are made in the image, after the likeness of God. You are made in the image, after the likeness of God.

The image we have in our minds of God, is pictured out in our acts, deeds, words, etc.

Think high about God and you will think high about your neighbor and your own self; for we all are picturing forth the image of our idea of God. It can't be hid, there is no such thing as hiding the Truth.

The Mohammedans look upon the Sultan as the successor of Mohammed. They believe in most of the Old Testament and part of the New, and look upon the teach
