TREATMENT SIXTH DAY.
HE sixth treatment is a spiritual treatment, and you
are to use it as the final argument treatment, as well
as for the intuitive and spiritual treatments. In any of these formulas you are to use just as much or just as little as your own judgment tells you to use. Don't use it all, if you feel like stopping at any point; or if you feel like commencing in the middle, do so; or if for any reason you prefer to begin at the end and go backward, do that: do in all cases as your inclination and judgment to do good dictate; for this is the way you develop your own characteristics. One great trouble with the people in the world seems to be that they follow the letter instead of the spirit that is hidden in all things, and consequently become copyists and formalists, Scribes and Pharisees.
The teachings of Christian Science develop those that study and practice it, in such a way that their outward life, or the seeming, conforms to the inward or hidden life or secret thoughts. They do not make a practice of observing any forms or ceremonies, but believe in always conducting themselves as being in the immediate Fresence, Power and Wisdom of the Ruler of the Universe. The outward or outpicturing always is the result of our thoughts and this Science teaches us to watch, direct, govern and control our thoughts, and everything else will unconsciously take care of itself.
The seventh treatment is one of absolute and total rest or silence. At first you may find it necessary to take some word and repeat it over to keep your mind steady; and for this purpose take some pleasant, harmonious word, like rest, or peace, or joy, or happiness, and think it over and over and over until the whole room will seem full of what you have been thinking. If your patient comes for any treatment after the seventh, you can give her the argument treatment over again, though by that time you would probably have a drawing in some direction, and no matter how slight the inclination is, follow it; always follow up those pullings at the strings of your heart. The heart's inclination to do good will help you wonderfully when your whole being is set in the way of Truth.
All of the teachings of the Master are good formulas, there are no better ones in existence than his short and comprehensive sentences. His mind was so concentrated upon the Truth, that when anyone asked him a question the answer was as exact as though he was answering some mathematical problem.
Study over what Jesus said to those he healed. Get so familiar with his teachings that you too, can touch your patients; not with your hands but with your words, with your thoughts. Touch them with the Truth. Get so sensitive that you will feel them when they call you, though you may be miles away. Get so sensitive that the tone of their voice will touch you, that their thoughts will touch you; and then you will know that you can make m feel you. For as you do to others, just so others do to you.
There is no escape from the laws of Truth, and as you come into possession of your talents or use those that have always been at your command, you will find that the law of gentleness, peace and mercy is the only one in which there is any hope of success. If others can touch you, you may be very sure that you can touch others.
Be very gentle, loving and kind with all your patients, and everyone in all the world is one of your cases. Treat them as you would like to have them treat you,
you were in their place and they were in yours. As you do to others, just so others will do to you. You are to be the greater force. Don't let others make harsh conditions for you, don't see any such things: but make gentle, smooth and kind conditions for others, and stand to your guns. Stand for Peace. Stand for Mercy. Stand for Charity. And you will compel everything to yield, for there is but one power in all eternity, and that is the Power of Love, the Power of Truth, the Power of Life, the Power of Mind. The Almighty Power of God, the Good, All of which you are.
Our friend that thought she had a tumor wants to take this treatment, her tumor is all gone, but it makes her feel so strong and self-reliant, that she wants the whole course, and so I say to her silently:
You are the image of God. In the beginning God created you in his own image, after his own likeness. In Truth he made a Tabernacle for himself to dwell in or abide in or live in. Paul says, Know ye not that you are the temple of God, and that the Spirit of God dwelleth in you. Ye are the temple of the living God: as God hath said, I will dwell in them and walk in them.
Jesus said, Destroy this temple and in three days I will raise it up. He spake of the temple of his body. And when he was demanded of the Pharisees when the King. dom of God should come, he answered them and said, The Kingdom of God cometh not with observation. Neither shall they say, Lo, here, or lo, there, for behold the Kingdom of God is within you.
The Kingdom of God cometh not with observation or with outward show, or from anything that you can discern with the physical senses. The Kingdom of God is discerned with the spiritual senses. The Kingdom of God is within you and can never be found by looking through all space, you must look within.
You have been born into the Kingdom of God. God dwells in you and you dwell in God. You and your Father are
The Kingdom of God is within you, and the King, God, is where his Kingdom is. God dwells in you, and as you claim your birthright, you can say, there is but one I Am in all the world.
God says of himself, I am that I am, or I am the one that is. I am the only one that is; I am is dwelling among you. I am is dwelling in you. I am is dwelling in me. There is but one I Am, as there is but one God, one Power, one Creator. I am Eternal Life. I am cannot die. I live forever. Before Abraham was, I Am. I am the centre and circumference, the beginning and end, the Alpha and Omega. Thus shalt thou say unto the children of Israel, I Am hath sent me unto you.
Hear, O my people, and I will speak: 0 Israel, and I will testify against thee: I am God, even thy God, I will not reprove thee for thy sacrifices or thy burnt offerings to have been continually before me. I will take no bullock out of thy house, nor he goat out of thy fold. For every beast of the forest is mine, and the cattle upon a thousand hills. I know all the fowls of the mountain: and the wild beasts of the field are mine. If I were hungry I would not tell thee: for the world is mine and the fulness thereof. I am Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the ending, saith the Lord, which is and which was and which is to come; the Almighty.
