With some it has been a matter of surprise that such an exposition has not been undertaken before ; but when the obstacles which have so long existed to prevent Catholic writers from vindicating their religious doctrines and social maxims are known, and the misfortune is that they are not known to the people of this country generally, that surprise will entirely vanish.
