Sunday Evening.

(Reader.) PEACE be to this house, and to all that dwell in it.

[Verses to be said alternately, all standing.]

1. I love the Lord, because He hath heard my voice, and my supplications.

2. Because He hath inclined His ear unto me, therefore will I call upon Him, as long as I live.

3. Thy vows are upon me, O God, I will render praises unto Thee.

4. Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who according to His abundant mercy hath begotten us again, unto a lively hope, by the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead; to an inheritance incorruptible, undefiled, and that fadeth not away.

5. There remaineth, therefore, a rest, to the people of God.

6. For we know that if our earthly house of this tabernacle were dissolved, we have a building of God, a house not made with hands, eternal in the heavens.

7. Blessed are they that do His Commandments, that they may have right to enter in through the gates, into the city.

8. They shall hunger no more, neither thirst any more, for the Lamb that is in the midst of the throne shall feed them, and shall lead them unto living fountains of waters: and God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes.

9. And there shall be no more curse; but the throne of God and of the Lamb shall be in it, and His servants shall serve Him, and they shall see His face, and His name shall be in their foreheads.

10. Eye hath not seen, nor ear heard, neither hath it entered into the heart of man to conceive, the things which God hath prepared for them that love Him.

II. Wherefore beloved, seeing that ye look for such things, be diligent, that ye may be found of Him in peace, without spot, and blameless.

[Doxology, to be said by all.]

Now unto Him that is able to keep you from falling, and to present you faultless before the presence of His glory with exceeding joy, to the only wise God our Saviour, be glory and majesty, dominion and power, both now and for ever.

Amen.

[Then all sitting, before the reading of the Bible, let the Reader repeat these verses.]

Be not forgetful hearers, but doers of the word.

O Lord, Thy word is a lamp unto my feet, and a light unto my path.

[Here follows the reading of God's Word; after which, all rising, before prayer, let the Reader repeat these verses.]

Be careful for nothing, but in everything, by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known unto God.

Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, and cometh down from the Father of lights, with whom is no variableness, neither shadow of turning.

[Then all devoutly kneeling, shall follow these Prayers and Responses.]

Let us pray.

(Reader.) The Lord be with you.
(Response.) And with thy spirit.

O holy and merciful Father, we render Thee most humble and hearty thanks, that, notwithstanding our unworthiness, Thou hast again permitted us this day to worship Thee and seek Thy face.

Forgive, we beseech Thee, whatever faults Thou hast seen in us; and grant us an answer in peace to the prayers which we have raised unto Thy Divine Majesty, in the name of our Redeemer.

Enable us faithfully to apply the instructions or reproofs we have heard, to the increase of our knowledge, and the amendment of our lives. Whatsoever we have learnt from Thy holy Word may we carefully remember, and diligently follow: whatever good desires Thou hast put into our hearts, may we, by the assistance of Thy grace, bring the same to good effect. Grant that we may keep ever in our remembrance Thy wondrous goodness to us sinners; so that henceforth we may live as becomes the redeemed of the Lord, doing all we can for Thy glory, and for the good of others.

(Response.) We have thought of Thy loving-kindness, O Lord, in the midst of Thy temple.

O God of the spirits of all mankind, who hast ordained Thy Church to preserve Thy truth, and

make known Thy love; prosper it in all its work. May it be free from all adversities; defend it from false doctrine, heal its unhappy divisions; may peace, truth, and charity be multiplied within it, and throughout the world.

Be pleased, good Lord, graciously to prosper with heavenly gifts that branch of Thy Church of which we are members. Clothe our priests with righteousness, and make our people obedient to Thy truth. May it be a safe fold for the sheep of Thy pasture; and a faithful witness for Thee in this evil world. Let many be turned from darkness to light by its services; and those that are seeking Thee be guided into the way of peace. Grant that all who have met together in Thy name may be strengthened for their duties, comforted in their trials, and more fitted for the service of a heavenly life, in Thy presence and glory, through Jesus Christ our Lord.

(Response.) O continue Thy loving-kindness unto them that know Thee, and Thy righteousness to the upright in heart.

Almighty God, who by Thy Son Jesus Christ didst give commandment to the holy apostles that they should go into all the world and preach the Gospel to every creature, grant to us whom Thou hast called into Thy Church, an earnest desire to carry out Thy will. We pray Thee, O Lord of the harvest, to send forth labourers into Thy harvest; that many believers may be gathered out from heathen lands, for Thy glory. Let idolatry, superstition, and error, be scattered by the light of Thy glorious truth.

Merciful Redeemer, fulfil Thy gracious promise to be always with those that go forth in Thy name, proclaiming Thy love in the dark places of the earth. Endue them with strength and wisdom, patience and

courage. Uphold them in perils, in sickness, or in disappointment; and so prosper their mission work, that they may have many souls to rejoice over at the great day of Thy appearing.

Awaken, we pray Thee, among all who already have Thy word, a more earnest desire to spread it throughout all lands; so may the good work of winning souls to Christ be dear to the hearts of all who put their trust in Thee.

(Response.) Praised be God's glorious name for ever; and let the whole earth be filled with His glory.

[Here may be added any special Prayers or Collects.]

Now, O Thou Great Jehovah, hear in heaven Thy dwelling-place, and when Thou hearest forgive, and accept of these our imperfect petitions. Take us all into Thy holy keeping this night: for the sake of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ, in whose own words we offer up all our prayers :

THE LORD'S PRAYER.

[Benediction, by the Reader.]

The Lord bless us and keep us; the Lord make His face shine upon us, and be gracious unto us; the Lord lift up His countenance upon us, and give us peace. Amen.
