THIS little work is intended as a Compendium of the rules of law by which the relation of Landlord and Tenant is governed. The recent enactments of the legislature, and the numerous decisions of the Courts relating to this branch of the law, have occasioned a necessity for some work in which the changes introduced should be accurately denoted; and an endeavour has been made to embody in the Treatise now offered to the profession all that can be found of practical utility in the various works which have emanated from the several writers on the subject, together with such recent enactments and decisions. The compiler of this Treatise has, from time to time, incorporated portions of Mr. Wollaston's edition of "Woodfall's Landlord and Tenant," and is also much indebted to that gentleman for many valuable suggestions given during the progress of his labours. The extensive nature of the subject, and the importance of many of the rules of law comprised in the little volume, have rendered it necessary to combine conciseness with the greatest possible accuracy.
