10. SEC. 2.-" It shall be lawful for the Governor, for and on behalf of the Colony, to cause Bonds to be issued in the form in the Schedule annexed hereto, or as near thereto as circumstances will admit, signed by the Government Secretary and Colonial Receiver General for the time being, each of which Bonds shall be payable to bearer for such sum as the Governor shall approve, and to an amount not exceeding in the whole Thirty Thousand Dolars; and bearing Interest payable half-yearly at the rate of Six per Centum per Anuum; and the amount of such Bonds shall be payable in thirty equal half-yearly instalments, falling due halfyearly from the fifth year after issue of the first Bond."

SECTION 3.-"All the Colenial Revenues not specially appropriated by any Ordinauce already in force, shall be held, and are hereby declared, to be pledged for the payment of the Interest and Principal to become due in respect of the said Bonds."

[Ord. 12anno AN ORDINANCE FOR RAISING A LOAN FOR THE COMPLETION 1869.] OF THE ROMAN CATHOLIC CATHEDRAL IN GEORGETOWN.

Preamble.

Enacted 24th July, 1869, published the 28th following, came into operation on publication.

WHEREAS the Roman Catholic Bishop in this Colony, having

by Petition prayed for the Grant on certain eonditions of a Loan for the completion of the new Roman Catholic Cathedral in Georgetown, the said Petition was considered at the Annual Meeting of the Honorable the Court of Policy of British Guiana, with the Financial Representatives of the Inhabitants thereof, in Combined Court Assembled, and on the Twenty eighth day of May, in the Year One Thousand Eight Hundred and Sixty-nine, it was resolved by the said Court as follows:

"1. That the Governor and Court of Policy be, and they are hereby authorised to cause Bonds to be issued to an "amount not exceeding Fifteen Thousand Dollars, charged upon the Colonial Revenues, and redeemable with interest "at Six per Cent in Seven years, from the date of issue.

"2. That the amount so to be raised may be advanced on Loan "to the Roman Catholic Bishop, for the purpose of "enabling him to complete the new Roman Catholic "Cathedral; it being conditioued that the amount of such "Loan shall be repaid in Seven Annual Instalments of "Two Thousand Dollars each for Six Years, and of Three "Thousand Dollars at the close of the Seventh Year; the "first instalment to fall due Two Years after the granting "of the Loan, with Interest at the rate of six per cent per annum, payable Half-yearly; and that for securing "such re-payment, the Colony shall have a preferent lien "on the amount secured by Ordinance No. 13 of 1868, for "the maintenance of the Roman Catholic Clergy in this "Colony."

Be it therefore enacted by His Excellency the Governor of British Guiana with the advice and consent of the Court of Policy thereof, as follows:

1. or if overdue, before the same shall have been paid off, may, if the number and paid off, on amount of such Bond shall be ascertained, and upon security being given to his satisfaction for indemnifying the Colonial Government for any loss to which it may at any time be subjected by reason thereof, issue a new Bond corresponding with the lost or destroyed Bond, or if any Bond, when so lost or destroyed shall be overdue, the Governor may, on being furnished with such security as aforesaid, cause the money due thereupon to be paid off and discharged.

6. The undersigned, the Government Secretary and the Colonial Receiver General of British Guiana, for and on behalf of said Colony, do hereby acknowledge that the Colony of British Guiana is indebted unto or bearer, in the sum of for the payment of which at on the day of 18 with Interest at the rate of Six per Centum per Annum, payable half-yearly, at the same place, cn the successiv and next ensuing the date of this Bond, on the surrender of the respective Interest Warraut, hereto attached, the Colonial Revenues are pledged as security under the provi sions of Ordinance No. 12, of the year 1869, intituled An Ordinance for raising a Loan for the completion of the Roman Catholic Cathedral in Georgetown."
