MANY years ago, I ventured to put forth, at various intervals, several little Volumes of Village Sermons, on "The Chief Articles of Faith and "the Means of Grace';"-"On some Parts of "the Christian Character;"" On the Relative "Duties;"-" On Sickness, Sorrow, and Death;" -and "On the Duties of Young Men, especially "in Country Villages." Most of these were favourably received by the Public, and I have reason to think, that, by the blessing of God upon them, they have in some instances been the means of producing, or of strengthening serious impressions of religion. Circumstances which it is not necessary to mention, have induced me again to commit a few sermons to the press. Like those, which preceded them, they are of the humblest description. They

have little pretension to originality, none to learning or eloquence. Their only object was to impress upon the hearts and consciences of a Village Congregation plain and acknowledged truths, with a reference especially to the practical effects, which those truths ought to produce.
