CERTIFICATE: By direction of the Federal Board for Vocational Education the matter contained herein is published as administrative information and is required for the proper transaction of the public business.

FOREWORD.

By the provisions of the vocational education law, enacted February 23, 1917, the Federal Board for Vocational Education is charged with the duty of causing to have made studies, investigations, and reports, with particular reference to their use in aiding the States in giving instruction in agriculture. When the Board deems it advisable, such studies, investigations, and reports may be made in cooperation with or through the Department of Agriculture.

This bulletin on "Analyzing a Poultry Enterprise," with suggestions for teachers, has been prepared by Mr. C. H. Schopmeyer, assistant in agricultural instruction, States Relations Service, United States Department of Agriculture, under the direction of the agricultural education service of the Federal Board, cooperating with the Department of Agriculture. Specialists in the Department of Agriculture and practical poultry raisers have been the authorities for the technical information. Mr. A. P. Williams, agricultural agent for the Federal Board in the North Atlantic region, has aided materially in making the contents of this bulletin applicable to the needs of those responsible for the administration of vocational classes in agriculture. This bulletin is a revision, both in organization and content, of Bulletin 63, "A Unit Course in Poultry Husbandry." The purpose of this revision has been to emphasize the farm job basis of teaching..

The subject matter is specifically directed toward the vocational teachers in all-day and part-time schools and teacher-trainers, with the hope that it may be of service to them in the determination of the technical and related subjects content of instruction.

J. C. WRIGHT, Director.
