Chapter 98.

Resolve, in Favor of J. F. Wood, Secretary of Committee on Education, for Expense Incurred by Committee Visiting the University of Maine.

Expenses committee on education. Resolved: That there be, and hereby is, appropriated the sum of one hundred four dollars and sixty-seven cents in payment of expenses of trip of committee on education to the University. of Maine.

Chapter 99.

Resolve, Authorizing the Payment of Certain Deficiencies.

To pay certain deficiencies. Resolved: That the sum of thirty-eight thousand, five hundred sixty-eight dollars and forty cents be appropriated to pay such deficiencies, as are shown by the two lists presented by the state auditor to the legislature on February sixth, nineteen hundred twentythree, as amended and allowed by the committee on claims.

Chapter 100.

Resolve, in Favor of the Maine School for Feeble-Minded for Maintenance for the Years Nineteen Hundred and Twenty-four and Nineteen Hundred and Twentyfive.

School for Feeble-Minded. Resolved: That there be, and hereby is, appropriated for the Maine School for Feeble-Minded:

For Personal Services, namely for salaries and wages of all officers and employees for two years; July first, nineteen hundred and twentythree to June thirtieth, nineteen hundred and twenty-four, the sum of seventy-five thousand dollars, July first, nineteen hundred and twentyfour to June thirtieth, nineteen hundred and twenty-five, the sum of seventy-five thousand dollars

For Maintenance, namely, for food supplies, wearing apparel, material and supplies incident to maintaining the institution and patients thereof for the two years; July first, nineteen hundred and twenty-three, to June thirtieth, nineteen hundred and twenty-four, the sum of seventy-four thousand dollars, July first, nineteen hundred

Resolve, in Favor of L. Mae Richmond, for Special and Extra Work for Aiding the Members of the Eighty-first Legislature.

L. Mae Richmond, extra work. Resolved: That there be paid to L. Mae Richmond, chief clerk in the attorney general's office, the sum of one hundred dollars, for special and extra work in aiding the members in drafting bills, the same to be paid from the appropriation for legislative expense.

Resolve, in Favor of Hospital Trustees, for Per Diem, Traveling and Other Expenses.

Hospital trustees, per diem and expenses. Resolved: That there be, and hereby is, appropriated for per diem, traveling and other expenses of the hospital trustees, for the two years July first, nineteen hundred and twenty-three to June thirtieth, nineteen hundred and twenty-four, the sum of four thousand dollars, and from July first, nineteen hundred and twentyfour to June thirtieth, nineteen hundred and twenty-five, the sum of four thousand dollars.

Resolve, in Favor of Several Academies, Institutes, Seminaries and Colleges for Maintenance, Repairs and Improvements.

Academies, seminaries, etc., in aid of. Resolved: That there be, and hereby is, appropriated in favor of the several academies, institutes, seminaries and colleges hereinafter listed the sum of sixty-six thousand, five hundred dollars for the period from July first, nineteen hundred twentythree, to June thirtieth, nineteen hundred twenty-four, and the sum of fiftyseven thousand, two hundred fifty dollars for the period from July first, nineteen hundred twenty-four, to June thirtieth, nineteen hundred twentyfive, said sums to be expended under the direction of the board of trustees of said institutions to the amount and for the purposes indicated in the following schedule:

Chapter 104.

Resolve, Appropriating Money to Increase the Salmon on the Maine Coast. Salmon, for purchase of. Resolved: That there be, and hereby is, appropriated the sum of five hundred dollars for each of the fiscal years nineteen hundred and twenty-four and nineteen hundred and twenty-five, for the purchase of salmon by the commissioner of inland fish and game, under the direction of the governor and council, the said salmon to be tagged and liberated in the rivers of the state above the dams to breed naturally and remain the property of the state so long as they live. Any person having tagged salmon in his possession shall be fined one hundred dollars for each salmon, said fine to be recovered by complaint, indictment or action of debt.

Chapter 105.

Resolve, in Favor of the University of Maine.

University of Maine, maintenance, etc. Resolved: That for the purpose of maintaining the University of Maine, throughout the period of the fiscal year beginning with the first day of July in this present year, there hereby is appropriated the sum of four hundred sixty thousand dollars for maintenance, and for the fiscal year dating with the first day of July in nineteen hundred twenty-four, there is appropriated hereby the sum of four hundred thirty-five thousand dollars for maintenance.

The word "maintenance," as that term is used in this resolve, shall be read and construed as inclusive of those items, only, which, in the official listings of the state, are grouped under the headings of Personal Services, Maintenance, Repairs and Equipment, Interest, and of New Construction and Permanent Improvement.
