By SOPHIE M. NICHOLLS, M.A., F.R.G.S. 8vo. With Illustrations and Maps. $1.00 net.

This book consists of twelve geographical studies, the centre of interest for each of which is a picture, accompanied by a map. The map is specially drawn in each case, to show the relief features of the country immediately surrounding and including the scene depicted in the view. Thus each picture is carefully located, its range and view-point being shown in the map, so that all the detail it contains can be interpreted accurately. Each study consists of a short geographical account of the environment, with full description of picture and suggestions of local color by means of Scriptural and other references. The twelve pictures are selected so as to form a series illustrating all the characteristic types of scenery in a land rich in variety of physical feature, and of peculiar interest on account of its historical and literary associations. Each study, with picture and map, is complete in itself. together suffice to the attentive student for the building up in imagination of a scenic background, in outline only but really effective for the graphic construction of the Scripture Story. The object of the author is to supply carefully selected and accurate material for the realization of this end.
