BEING REPORTS OF CASES DETERMINED IN THE FEDERAL AND STATE COURTS OF THE UNITED STATES, CANADA, ETC. WITH NOTES By N. ST. JOHN GREEN, LECTURER ON CRIMINAL LAW AT THE SCHOOL OF LAW OF BOSTON UNIVERSITY. VOL II. BOSTON: 1879. Entered, according to Act of Congress, in the year 1875, by N. ST. JOHN GREEN, RIVERSIDE, CAMBRIDGE: &TEREOTYPED AND PRINTED BY H. O HOUGHTON AND COMPANY. 10TH PREFACE. The Editor has in general to thank the reporters, and the owners of copyrights of reports, not only for the ready permission which they have granted to take cases from their reports in the preparation of this volume, but also for the unsolicited assistance which they have often given by forwarding to him advanced sheets of those Criminal Cases which appeared to them most worthy of notice. He has failed, however, in obtaining from the publishers of the cases in the Court of Appeals of New York (who claim to own the copyright of that series of reports) permission to take cases from those reports for this compilation. Arrangements will be made by which the omission of the New York cases in the present, will be supplied in the next volume. TABLE OF THE CASES REPORTED. A. Chappell, People v.
