PREFACE.

THE Volume now issued contains all the Ordinances and Acts of the Legislature of New Zealand, which are in general operation throughout the Colony. The enactments which have been expressly repealed, or which are of only limited, local, or temporary application, are omitted. Allowing for the list of typographical errata, it is confidently believed that the present volume contains a verbatim transcript of the enactments given in the authorised books. The compiler has aimed solely at accuracy and clearness, and if he has not reached both, it has not been through lack of zeal and industry on his part. The Index shows the plan of arrangement which has been pursued.
