10 The lions do lack, and suffer hunger; but they who seek the Lord shall want no manner of thing that is good.

11 Come, ye children, and hearken unto me: I will teach you the fear of the Lord.

12 What man is he that lusteth to live: and would fain see good days?

13 Keep thy tongue from evil: and thy lips, that they speak no guile.

14 Eschew evil, and do good: seek peace, and ensue it.

15 The eyes of the Lord are over the righteous and his ears are open unto their prayers.

16 The countenance of the Lord is against them that do evil; to root out the remembrance of them from the earth.

17 The righteous cry, and the Lord heareth them and delivereth them out of all their troubles.

18 The Lord is nigh unto them that are of a contrite heart and will save such as be of an humble spirit.

19 Great are the troubles of the righteous: but the Lord delivereth him out of all.

20 He keepeth all his bones: so that not one of them is broken.

21 But misfortune shall slay the ungodly: and they that hate the righteous shall be desolate.

22 The Lord delivereth the souls of his servants and all they that put their trust in him shall not be destitute.

Glory be to the Father, and to the Son: and to the Holy Ghost;

As it was in the beginning, is now, and ever shall be: world without end.

Let us pray.

Amen.

GOD, who art the giver of life, of health,

and of safety; We bless thy name, that thou hast been pleased to preserve us to another day. Gracious art thou, O Lord, and full of compassion to the children of men. May our hearts be duly impressed with a sense of thy merciful goodness towards us, in the innumerable blessings of this life; and of thine inestimable love, in the redemption of the world by the death and passion of our Saviour Christ; that we may devote the residue of our days to an humble, holy,

and obedient walking before thee; through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

GOD, forasmuch as without thee we

are not able to please thee; Mercifully grant that thy Holy Spirit may in all things direct and rule our hearts, that we may both perceive and know what things we ought to do, and also may have grace and power faithfully to fulfil the same; through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

GOD, who knowest us to be set in the midst of so many and great dangers, that by reason of the frailty of our nature we cannot always stand upright; Grant to us such strength and protection, as may support us in all dangers, and carry us through all temptations. We lean only on the hope of thy heavenly grace; our whole trust and confidence is in thy mercy; favourably, then, hear the prayers of thy servants, and evermore defend us by thy mighty power; through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

ALMIGHTY God, who hast given thine

only Son to be unto us both a sacrifice

for sin, and also an ensample of godly life; Give us grace that we may always most thankfully receive that his inestimable benefit, and also daily endeavour to follow the blessed steps of his most holy life. Mercifully grant that we may imitate the example of his courage and constancy, his lowliness and humility, his meekness and patience, and great charity; and also be made like unto him, in his eternal and glorious kingdom, where, with thee, O Father, and thee, O Holy Ghost, he liveth and reigneth, ever one God, world without end. Amen.

WEDNESDAY EVENING.

Blessed is he that hath the God of Jacob for his help and whose hope is in the Lord his God.

PSALM 121.

WILL lift up mine eyes unto the hills: -from whence cometh my help.

2 My help cometh even from the Lord: who hath made heaven and earth.

3 He will not suffer thy foot to be moved: and he that keepeth thee will not sleep.

4 Behold, he that keepeth Israel: shall neither slumber nor sleep.

5 The Lord himself is thy keeper: the Lord is thy defence upon thy right hand;

6 So that the sun shall not burn thee by day: neither the moon by night.

7 The Lord shall preserve thee from all evil: yea, it is even he that shall keep thy soul.

8 The Lord shall preserve thy going out, and thy coming in: from this time forth for evermore.

Glory be to the Father, and to the Son: and to the Holy Ghost;

As it was in the beginning, is now, and ever shall be: world without end.

Amen.

Let us pray.
