Court of Appeals, Annapolis, Feb. 2d, 1872. GENTS: We take pleasure in recommending to the legal profession and the public, the Supplements to the Code, containing the Acts of 1868 and 1870, published by you. Like the previous works of the same kind, published by your house, these are alike credita. ble to the Compilers and to yourselves, both for accuracy and for the style in which the mechanical work has been executed. Respectfully, &c. JAS. L. BARTOL, R. H. ALVEY, JOHN M. ROBINSON, OLIVER MILLER, JAS. A. STEWART, RICHARD GRASON, RICHARD J. BOWIE,

GEORGE BRENT.

ANNAPOLIS, Feb. 1st, 1869.

Messrs. JOHN MURPHY & Co. GENTLEMMN-We have received copies of the Supplement to the Code, containing the Acts of the last Session of our Legislature, which you were so kind as to send us, and for which you will please accept our thanks.

Both this and the previous Supplement to the Code, embracing in the two volumes the Acts of our Legislature, from 1861 to 1868, inclusive, are books highly creditable alike to Mr. MAYER, the Codifier, and yourselves, the Publishers. They cannot fail to be of great convenience to the public, and especially to the Courts and Bar of the State. The excellent and faithful manner in which their contents have been arranged and indexed, and the admirable style in which they have been printed and bound, highly commend them to public favor. With sincere wishes for the success of your enterprise,

We are truly, your ob't serv'ts,
JOHN M. ROBINSON,
RICHARD GRASON,

OLIVER MILLER,
R. H. ALVEY,

From the Judges of the Supreme Bench, Baltimore.

Mr. JOHN MURPHY,

BALTIMORE, 11th Feb., 1868.

DEAR SIR-I have been examining the volume just prepared by Mr. MAYER, and published by you, of the Laws of Maryland, from 1861 to 1867, both inclusive, and prepared in conformity with the arrangement of the Code, with some improvements. The Work appears to have been prepared very carefully and accurately, and forms a most valuable addition to a Law Library. I hope the State will encourage it.

I am, dear sir, yours,
We concur in the above:

Messrs. JOHN MURPHY & Co.

T. PARKIN SCOTT, C. J.
HENRY F. GAREY,
ROBT. GILMOR, JR.

CAMPBELL W. PINKNEY.

BALTIMORE, Feb. 8th, 1868.

GENTLEMEN:-Since the appearance of Mr. MAYER's arrangement of the Statute Laws of Maryland, enacted since the Code, I have had constant occasion to use it, and have always done so, as I do with Mr. MAYER'S other most accurate Work, with entire satisfaction. From what I have long known of Mr. MAYER'S patiently laborious habits, and his pains taking accuracy, directed by an acute and discriminating mind, I could have expected nothing less than he has given us, and when his work is combined with yours, always excellent and in good taste, the result leaves nothing to be desired. I am, very truly, yours,

G. W. DOBBIN.

BALTIMORE, February 15th, 1867.

Messrs. JOHN MURPHY & Co. GENTLEMEN:—I thank you for your note, and the copy of your new and complete Supplement to the Maryland Code which accompanied it. I have delayed acknowledging your courtesy, in order to examine the work with sufficient care to be able to give you, advisedly, the opinion which you invite in regard to its merits, and am now gratified to say, that I think it meets, in every particular, the wants of the profession and the public. The arrangement is unexceptionable; the indexing and annotation are of the most thorough and convenient character, and the whole editorial labor has been performed with the skill, fidelity and accuracy, which have already placed the Bar under obligations to Mr. MAYER. The type. paper, and mechanical execution of the volume, are worthy of the care and intelligence which have been employed in its editorial preparation. S. T. WALLIS.

Truly and respectfully yours,

MURPHY & CO. Publishers, Booksellers, Printers and Stationers, Baltimore.
