What was there peculiar about the miracle which Jesus performed on the ruler's son ?

You will find some account of the origin of the difficulty between the Jews and Samaritans in 2 Kings 17: 24. Give an account of the affair.

On this account, the Samaritans endeavored to prevent all from going to Jerusalem.- Luke 9:51 -54.

In what place may we endeavor to worship God? At the end of all things, where will all true worshippers meet?

Do you think we shall be there?

[blocks in formation]

while I am coming, another steppeth down before me.

8 Jesus saith unto him, Rise, take up thy bed, and walk.

9 And immediately the man was made whole, and took up his bed, and walked: and on the same day was the sabbath.

10 The Jews therefore said unto him that was cured, It is the sabbath day; It is not lawful for thee to carry thy bed.

11 He answered them, He that made me whole, the same said unto me, Take up thy bed, and walk.

12 Then asked they him, What man is that which said unto thee, Take up thy bed, and walk?

13 And he that was healed wist not who it was for Jesus had conveyed

himself away, a multitude being in that place.

14 Afterward Jesus findeth him in the temple, and said unto him, Behold, thou art made whole: sin no more, lest a worse thing come unto thee.

15 The man departed, and told the Jews that it was Jesus which had made him whole.

16 And therefore did the Jews persecute Jesus, and sought to slay him, because he had done these things on the sabbath day.

17 But Jesus answered them, My Father worketh hitherto, and I work.

18 Therefore the Jews sought the more to kill him, because he not only had broken the sabbath, but said also that God was his Father, making himself equal with God.

WHERE was Jesus when he healed the nobleman's son ?

In what manner did Jesus employ himself on his journeys?-Acts 10:38. Matt. 4:23.

Do you know what Bethesda means?

[ocr errors]

How many porches were built by the side of this pool?

3 WHO were lying in these porches ?

For what were they waiting?

4 WHAT is said to have troubled or agitated the waters of the pool?

Were the people accustomed to ascribe all bles

sings to the agency of angels? - Heb. 1:14. Acts 12: 11.

Do you not think our heavenly Father is exceedingly kind, to send angels to take care of us? What benefit did the man receive who went into the pool first after the agitation of the water? If, at this place, God caused the waters to cure all diseases, can you not tell why it is called Bethesda, or the house of mercy?

Do you think this man knew Jesus could heal him?

If men had been as kind as the Savior was, what would they have done for this man?

What do you call that disposition, which leads children to seek their own comfort, and not to care for others suffering?

The most needy are often neglected; what does
Jesus say we should do?- Luke 14: 13.
Do you indulge in selfishness and cruelty ?
Do you not sometimes step before others and
take what properly belongs to them?
