CAP. I.

An Act for granting to Her Majesty certain sums of money required for defraying certain Expenses of the Civil Government for the eighteen months ending on the thirtieth day of June, one thousand eight hundred and seventy, and for other purposes connected with the Public Service.

MOST GRACIOUS SOVEREIGN:

[Assented to 5th April, 1869.]

HEREAS it appears by messages from the Honorable Preamble. Sir Narcisse Fortunat Belleau, Knight, lieutenant governor of this province of Quebec, and the estimates accompanying the same, that the sums hereinafter mentioned are or may be required to defray certain expenses of the government of this province, not otherwise provided for, for the eighteen months ending on the thirtieth day of June, one thousand eight hundred and seventy, and for other purposes connected with the public service; may it therefore please Your Majesty, that it may be enacted, and be it enacted by the Queen's Most Excellent Majesty, by and with the advice and consent of the Legislature of Quebec, that:

1. of this province, or which, in the interest of the public service, may require to be so paid and applied, whether for account of this province or otherwise, for the eighteen. months ending on the thirtieth day of June, one thousand eight hundred and seventy, which are set forth in the schedule to this act, and for the other purposes therein mentioned.

2. Nothing herein or in the said schedule contained, nor to be deemed yet any payment or application whatever of moneys hereprovince. but by appropriated, or of any part thereof, shall be held to to be subject to future set- import that such moneys are so paid or applied for charges tlement of ac- or expenses of this province so called, or are not otherwise provided for, or are to be finally carried to account of the said consolidated revenue fund; but on the contrary, every such payment and application shall be held only to be made provisionally from such fund, and subject to all rightful adjustment in account hereafter, in respect of the Dominion and of the province of Ontario, and of all special funds which the same may at all affect, and otherwise.

3. Accounts in detail of all moneys expended under the authority of this act, shall be laid before both houses of the legislature of this province at the then next session thereof.

4. The due application of all moneys expended under the authority of this act, shall be accounted for to her majesty, her heirs and successors, through the lords commissioners of her majesty's treasury, in such manner and form as her majesty, her heirs and successors, shall be pleased to direct.
