If there is nothing more before the Association tonight we will take a recess until tomorrow morning at ten o'clock. And I would like to ask the members of the Association to be prompt in attendance tomorrow morning, as we have an address by Mr. White, of the Montreal Bar, which will undoubtedly be interesting and we would like to pay him the compliment of a full attendance.

An adjournment was taken to Friday, July 18, 1902, at 10 o'clock A. M.

FRIDAY, JULY 18, 1902.

The Association was called to order at 10 o'clock, President Stevens in the Chair.

PRESIDENT STEVENS: The first thing in order this morning is the report of the Committee on Admissions, Judge George W. Wall; is that Committee ready to report?

JUDGE WALL: The Committee on Admissions have a long list of applicants; each one is recommended in the proper way by a member of the Association, and the Committee recommends that the entire list be admitted. I think it is not necessary to read them.

PRESIDENT STEVENS: You have heard the report of the Committee, what will you do with it, gentlemen?

MR. MOSES: I move its adoption.

JUDGE GROSs: Before that motion is put, we have to vote by ballot, do we not?

PRESIDENT STEVENS: I do not remember whether the bylaws require a ballot or not for these admissions. Mr. Secretary, do the by-laws require a ballot on the report of the Committee on Admissions?

MR. MATHENY: A viva voce vote is usual.

The motion was adopted.

PRESIDENT STEVENS: The names reported will be considered as admitted to the Association.

port of the Committee on "Judicial Administration" by Mr. Elmer E. Rogers; is Mr. Rogers ready to report? He seems to be. Mr. Rogers, gentlemen.

MR. GREGORY: I would suggest that the report of this committee be referred to the incoming committee on law reform.

PRESIDENT STEVENS: You have heard the motion, does it receive a second,-that that report be referred to the Committee on Law Reform, to be named by the President who shall be elected for next year.

The motion was seconded and adopted.

MR. WILLIAMS: The Auditing Committee is now ready to report:

To the Illinois State Bar Association:

The Auditing Committee beg to report that they have examined the accounts of the Treasurer of this Association, as shown by his report, including the items of receipts, and disbursements with vouchers therefor, and find the same correct.

On motion, duly seconded, the report of the Auditing Committee was unanimously adopted.

PRESIDENT STEVENS: Is the report of the Nominating Committee ready?

MR. PAGE: Mr. Chairman and Gentlemen of the Convention: Your Committee on Nominations beg to report that they recommend as officers for the ensuing year the following named gentlemen:

For Secretary and Treasurer...... ...... James H. Matheny, of Springfield I will say in regard to the nomination of Judge Tuley, that while there have been few departures from what seems to be the practice here, that judges should not be nominated to this position, it appeared to the Committee, from various suggestions that had been made, that it was the unanimous desire of the Bar Association that Judge Tuley should be the President of this Association, and the nomination is made by the Committee with great pleasure. (Applause). I move the adoption of the report.

The motion was seconded and unanimously adopted.

PRESIDENT STEVENS: Gentlemen of the Association, we have with us now a prominent and distinguished member of the Montreal bar, who kindly consented to come here and meet us, and deliver an address upon "Notes on the Sources and Development of the Law of the Province of Quebec." 1 have the honor and the pleasure of presenting to you W. J. White, King's Counsel, of Montreal. (Applause).

MR. SHERMAN: I move you that the thanks of the Association be tendered the Hon. William J. White, King's Counsel, for the very able and interesting address to which we have just listened.

PRESIDENT STEVENS: The motion is carried unanimously, extending you congratulations and gratitude.
